In every election everywhere, those who pick sides early are always more than those who are sitting on the fence. The more you insult a candidate and make him look like being bullied, you create an underdog in the process, thereby, giving him most of the neutral voters who love to help underdogs.

Secondly, they were too focused on his weaknesses and gaffes that they forgot the biggest weakness of all; "division". They forgot to create a game plan, they focused on attacking him while he kept them busy while making his moves underground.

These guys are still using same formula, they are too proud to pipe low, go back and plan for what should be done next.
