Good evening nairalanders, please I need help to get my money from a scammer.
I sell babies accessories, so today 25th January, 2024 at about 04:41pm, a young man came into the shop to buy dryer (hanger). I told him the price (#11000)he bargained and we concluded on the price.
He told me he wants to do transfer and I said no problem, he he asked for my account number which I gave him, few seconds later he showed me a pop up message on his small phone screen.
He even showed me his debit alert with my name and the amount in it. I told him to wait until I received the alert but he gave me his phone number and also described where he stays which wasn't to far from my shop.
I started suspecting when I tried the number he flash me with and it says it does not exist.
I also went to the place he described as his house but nobody bears that name he gave me.
I have been calling him since past 5pm till about 8:31pm same story ( the number does not exist) only for me to call again at about 9:53 it rang and he busy my call. It now dawn on me that I have been scammed of my hard earned money, my sweat. I had to register to be able to post, I have been a visitor for years.

No credit alert no service, you are the owner of the store - people come and go. Haven't you noticed that POS servicemen barely take blame for a transaction error! Even if the fault is from their end! They will always shift the blame to your bank or card issuer.

You see someone carrying your stuff and no credit alert, if you shout "thief thief" do you think the man can withstand what would happen to him at this present time when eyes dey red?
Phone number is not a collateral, address is not a collateral, friend - my guy is not a collateral. No credit, no service.

There was another user that made a post like this months ago sha... Dem show you pop message, did you show him your own pop message?

You literally dashed him the hanger. Haven't you been reading stories ?
Na wah for you o.. You even try the number he gave u,it didn't connect, and you allowed him carry ur hanger away.

You can't use wrong number and wrong name to trace a thief na.. Except you see him physically again,and you must have evidence (CCTV) ,if not the thief will accuse you of wrongly accusing him. He fit arrest you on top your lost hanger and money sef,make you go dey bail yourself. No try that kind loose guarding next time o.

My dear, the bitter truth is that, you may never be able to get that money back. May be miraculously God touch his heart and he decides to come back to your shop and give you the money.

You have to just accept the loss and move on, learn your lessons, you're even lucky he only bought that dryer, what if he bought alot of things that run into hundred thousands?

Think of people that lost millions, properties and even dear ones.

Just thank God and move on and HE will convert the loss to blessings for you.

I have never allowed someone to go with my goods without getting an alert before, even for as small as one thousand naira. He can't eat my money, i am very sure about that. please nairalanders help me call him with this number;07047942102

Exactly the same thing my husband said, I should thank God he didn't take more than that. It's not easy to forget just like that. I have left everything to God.

I combine this business with house chores and school runs, and someone from nowhere just came out to scam me,
no way my sweat and my tears will trouble him wherever he is.
I worked so hard for this money, I won't lose it like that.
Except God is not on the throne.

Person dey hustle,you get mind scam am of the small scale biz face to face.na wa o.na really wa o.I am tired of reading bad news in Nigeria.headache don dey worry me.
