HABITS THAT CAUSE HALITOSIS (BAD BREATH/MOUTH ODOUR). by Smilesdotcom: 12:16pm On Jan 29 |
It's embarrassing to have bad breath, and sometimes you just can't get the smell to go away no matter how hard you try. A number of factors, some of which may be beyond your control, including heredity, acid reflux, diabetes, sinus disorders, and certain drugs, can result in halitosis or bad breath. Although periodontal therapies can help restore normal dental health and cure halitosis, gum disease is a common cause of bad breath. But there are a lot of other reasons why your breath could smell, and you can prevent or combat bad breath by adopting some of these important practices. One or more of the following regular practices may be the cause of your persistent halitosis: 1. You Don't Brush and Floss Daily—The best defense against foul breath and preservation of oral health is consistent brushing and flossing. This is the first habit you should break if you have trouble with halitosis. Don't forget to scrape out any bacteria that may have accumulated on your tongue. 2. You Breathe via Your Mouth: When you breathe primarily through your mouth, saliva evaporates, causing dry mouth. This keeps food particles from washing down your throat and causing bad breath. 3. You Consume Mouth Bacteria-Altering Foods: You probably already know that some foods, including coffee, onions, and garlic, might make you halitosis-prone, but you should also stay away from foods like cabbage and Brussels sprouts that have a strong smell or rinse out when you take them. 4. You're on a Low-Carb Diet: Yeshiva University researchers discovered that people with foul breath were more likely to be following a low-carb diet as opposed to a low-fat diet. 5. You Drink a Lot of Alcohol: Alcohol causes your mouth's saliva to dry out, which is similar to mouth breathing. When alcohol is broken down by your body, it causes terrible breath. 6. You Don't Drink Enough Water: Throughout the day, your mouth continuously uses saliva to flush out food particles. Dehydration can lead to dry mouth, which produces a peculiar stench. Now you know all these, which do you think is peculiar to you or someone you know. 👇Leave a comment below To book an appointment to see a dentist, kindly call Lekki : 09066936388 Gbagada: 08134007519 Or you can send us a Dm. #smilesdotcom #badbreath #dentist #dentalclinic |
