Why is it that prayers for any meal is short

now i can see why u did not pray well the other day

the prayer has to be short, cos u know the how hard times are in Nigeria even the devils are now hungry, so its best u make it short in order to discourage any demon dat might want to cause food accident lemme elucidate u on this point food accident occurs when the devil slaps u and the food passes the wrong route and causes u to choke, dat way u cant eat anylonger so u just stand up and leave the devil to the meal

a short prayer like this will do (plus our lord, minus satan) cross urself nd start chopping

Dunno about dat becos my prayers b/4 meal r always very long.
I start wit praying for the world and then for Africa and then for Nigeria and then my state and LGA.
Then I pray for the sick, the poor, the hungry and homeless, those in prison, the orphans, the motherless, the widows, the widowers, all departed souls. Then for our bad leaders and the good ones.
Then I pray for happy and sad pple, good and bad pple, rich and poor pple. Next, I pray for my neighbours, and friends and well wishers.
After that I thank God for the food I am about to eat and then for everyone on nairaland.
Good, I think I can eat now.
Where is the food?

Mine is Bless this food, Oh Lord for Christsakes (Amen) no long thin.

If u consider my prayer b/4 meal long, just wait till u hear me say my morning prayers then u'll realize that it cud get longer.

If u are thinking of praying and casting out demons from the food before eating.
Well, u can also pray and cast out demons from the air before taking a breath.

It shouldn't matter how long or short it is. What should count is the motive which should be - thanksgiving. Either way, it's kinda funny that more often than not, meal times prayers are really short.

i never tot of it as thanksgivivng - i would have brought a band to celebrate
