Back. . .

Mr. Obuh said they did get and rejected Ogun state accomodation offer because "the place is not good" and a native doctor lives there.

The Ayobo room was paid for,2 years upfront by an annonymous donor who also promised them other things(biz) though they've not heard from him/her since then.

The Atm lady did not buy them stoves and buckets as reported. The lady came with a proposal instead. She wants them to use her account and re direct donors(including us) to assist them via her account.Mr Obuh rejected the offer and she left in annoyance.

There is/was no Ojota/Ikota accomodation offer.

Mr Obuh looks(to me) very sane and drug free. The wife,Dupe corroborated every thing he said.

Wow! Another twist.
Did you ask him why he refused your offer of driving him over?
Did you find out if he ever demanded for 100k?

Well done o Ify, excellent effort on your part. Guys, what next?

Future Plans . . .

Mr Obuh says he wants to go into Timber biz.He was very passionate about that and when I tried to find out why,his response was that he was always wanted to sell timber.I asked him how much capital he thinks he would need to kick off,he said 150K but he can still start off with anything lessfanything he's offered.

Dupe wants a small provision store. She says it would give her time to manage and take care of the husband and kids and also ensure they have atleast food on the table daily.I asked her how much start up capital we are looking at,she asked the husband(LOL) and then replied 100K plus small Generator and Fridge.

Exactly why we needed one of us to go there and sit with them. Why would anyone want to live with a native doctor?

So, what did you decide with the family? As it is I think we should carry on with our plans for the family.

Many thanks Ify.

Ohh  cheesy

What about accommodation? Are they willing to move out if we found somewhere good for them?

Thought that's sorted. Ayobo apartment is not the native doctor's place or is it?

@ifyalways

How much do you want to give in total? Where do we in Nigeria donate? Or can we go and give the man direct.
Re: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by ifyalways(f): 6:46pm On Nov 18, 2011
Money or goods. . .?
They both said they'd prefer we get them everything ourseleves(shop, goods).Dupe said she can tag along with us whenever we are sourcing for goods in order to acquaint herself with mkt and selling price, cost price etc.

@Radiant,accomodation issue is sorted. They have a place at Ayobo. They've not moved to Ayobo cos they feel if they move in now, people might assume their problems are over while in reality, accomodation with no source of income wud take them back to the streets again.

@Naijababe,I sincerely forgot about the 100K issue.

They still would need household and cooking utensils as the room is still bare and empty. The guy that got them the house promised furnishing and other things but they've not heard from him since then.

@Odunnu,Nne dalu.E jim security jee nke tata maka na oku di over.isi m dikwa m important.lolz

Re: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by ifyalways(f): 7:01pm On Nov 18, 2011
John doe,If you are interested in helping them,Oam4j,Jarus or R231 would contact you.
btw,You are in Lagos and I was thinking you'd come around.lol

It's left for the organising commitee to decide on what to do BUT i suggest that we do cash and kind donation(as Dupe wants to go the provision route) especially for people in Lagos and Nigeria.

@Olowotee,our sunday arrangement still stands as planned.I would sms you laterz.

Again,we "must" not provide them with 2 different busineses.1 good one, health care and education for the lil'boy is OK.Mr Obuh with a roof on his head and assured of food(from the wife) should hit the streets,IMO.

Re: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by Nobody: 7:12pm On Nov 18, 2011
See why it's important to get both sides of the story?! Ify, you have done well and it sounds like asking a lot but i think they are going to need more than financial help i.e. getting then reacquainted to normal society. Living under bridge no be moinmoin.

My suggestions are as follows:

Since they have accommodation now, we should try and get them basics that will make it habitable, don't need to wait for the UK person any more

Help them open an account, just a basic saving account, carrying wads of cash around is not really ideal and propensity to overspend will be curtailed

For those in naija, other non-financial contributions can be made i.e. those of with baby things that we have no use for can pass them to them, furniture, books et al

you can take your money to him yourself at least you know the story and you know where he is

and don't forget to take your solders too since you have the power to arrest anybody that helps him

IFYALWAYS dear, thank you so much, would contact you anytime am in the country. God bless you.

Johndoe (grandfather) with a high ''iq''. good for you, glad you are contributing something to better another man's life. At most you know that life is not all about cheating husbands, promiscuous wives and abusive relationships, there is more to LIFE than BITTERNESS!!!!
Re: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by Odunnu: 7:41pm On Nov 18, 2011
Hey R231, relax. Cool down abeg. Johndoe's comments really hurt you, abi? Thats him for you he is one annoying guy but when I remember he's proGEJ like me, I try to accomodate his blunt vulgarity.
I apologise on his behalf. He has decided to be a part of this project, lets not deny him that.
Biko, ejor, dan'Allah, lets tell him how to contribute.
Re: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by ronkebp(f): 7:43pm On Nov 18, 2011
Thankl God for that accomodation they've got, so lets finish contributing, so we would know how much we have, that would determine what we would give him to start his timber business.

@ifyalways;
You have indeed done very well. You've saved everyone from all forms of conjecture and insinuations. At least we now know what the truth really is. Once again a BIG thank you to you for the effort.

I'm equally glad that the man and his wife have not actually insisted on having cash only as earlier reported. We can sure help him in cash and kind and hopefully help set his wife up in her proposed petty provisions trading. We'll need advice from some of the experienced ladies in the house in this regard.
