Never knew they could say that.
Won't be surprised if the recruiters don't have better degree themselves. Some only got their jobs through vitamin B (Connection).

Brother I can imagine how you feel because it's the same thing everywhere.
Over here in the UK, imagine most of us applying for cleaning jobs and the recruitment department will reply with "Unfortunately we cannot proceed with your application because you fell short of the criteria we are looking for"

Cleaning Job ooo.
Sorry which criteria are they looking for? Is it class of degree or what? Is it the degree from nigérian universities or UK?

Thread for olodo rabatas!

Biko, Let me gently leave this thread for them

What you don't know is that an examination is not a true test of knowledge or character. This right here is one of the reasons Nigeria is where it is. We glorify certificates and class of degrees more than competence and character. It is the reason people go to Benin Republic to purchase certificates in 6 months. It is the reason a Chinese with ordinary technical certificate is seen as an expatriate and employed to supervise many PhD holders.

Some of these people who have this class of degree were frustrated by wicked and corrup lecturers and institutions.

If given a chance, some of them are more trainable than many first class graduates.

Nigeria is not just ready for transformation.

I am sorry to write this but their reply is just like your class of degree, they wrote "we may not be able to provide feedback about your application" is the mail they sent to you not a feedback. instead of them to write we may not be able to proceed with your application. Don't go there please, they will take your 3rd class to ordinary pass with this their kind of email. grin
.
Lol thanks for pointing that out...

Maybe they meant to say further feedback grin

Just like your friend says
Better days ahead. Don’t be discouraged bro, I did also graduated with Pass from Poly and currently am working in a multinational company as a sales manager.

Though some companies ain’t interested in your class of degree rather what you can offer.

Even those that did sorting or used their toto for sorting are talking thrash. I know many with third class working in big company. There is this lady I know that had Pass, but she got job immediately whereas first class are roaming the street

When I got into uni I told myself I’ll not leave with anything lower than a 2:1, not because I intend to seek jobs with it but I can’t spend 4 years in school and not leave with at least a decent result. I wasn’t the most serious type but I made sure I finished with a 2:1 which I did.

Which company are you working with now? I mean, how huge is your balance in account?

Are you aware that countless numbers of people with good grades are employed by illiterates and pass holders? Are you also aware that majority of people in NASS came out with low grades while some are NCE holders especially northerners but they are moving with sirens and convoys and high grade graduates are subject to their dictates. Just so you know

Ur point is completely different from my point......weda u have 1st class or 3rd class u can be wateva u want.....u can even forge certificate to be a president.....does that mean we should all forge certificate??
.. If u go to market to buy food .buy good food bros, even if u won't cook it.....wateva is worth doig is worth doing well abeg....

Lecturer!
Come teach the course na make we see weda na you dey control understanding.

Till today, once you put plenty alphabets for mathematics, I don leave you.

I didn't understand one thing about Carbon chain- Halogens, until Year 1 Chemistry.
To the point that I was the one teaching my roommate that graduated as 2:1 Mechanical engineer.

You can teach all you want...but if the pupil does not have appropriate foundational knowledge, that gap will create an interference in their learning.
Whatever you teach afterwards, is not entering.
And scheme of work must continue.

That's how students tend to fail the course.
Even when we strive to study, we still can't seem to understand Odinary Differential Equation ODE 203

U point is??
Are u blaming lecturer or blaming student ??
If u have foundational issue...u pay more price reading so u can understand higher level education.....but no wahala...we all want to blame someone else for bad grades except ourselves

Yawn!!..I don't have a problem with being a billionaire, once I pay the price, i will get to that class....
But you lots and the Op wants to get the job a company has established by their company standards for 1st class and 2:1.....una just be thief...and thats why there's so much crime in the world......thats why we have certificate forgers for a president...

The op's Grade shouldn't limit him to some stupid job..he can become wateva he wants.. but instead he's here crying that they cut him because of grade....
U have 4 years to straighten ur grades..weda u will ise it to work or not.....if u don't get it good..it's ur fault....but u can strategize and pursue what wont require grades....
..I've seen many pple that ddnt go to school do well....so what's the point of this thread...

i graduated with a lower bsc not becuz i failed any course but due to extortion and wickedness, final exams i didnt write were deemed as f thats why... you never know what people pass tru.. i missed those exams because i sponsored my self and i had challenges meeting up final exams due to hustle. all i was thinking was according to the school bylaws it was incomplete and i can write again which was the way.. but the deliberately made it an F and asked us to pay to rewrite. life is deep bros...

Nigeria is a bad place. today with that lower degree, i have a phd and i can top up the ow degree but i dont want to. my MSc and PHD succeeds that rubbish i got from Nigeria.

thats my testimony, never be too quick to judge.

Look at the world around you. Formal education is not the only place one can excel in.
Sports, art, business and other fields can be explored to bring out the excellence in people.

Intelligent quotient is not the same for everyone.
Most times, this foundational repair has to go as far back as my Jss, when we started learning Quadratic equation.

Even in that year 1, I still didn't know much chemistry, but that CH- chain, the lady taught us very well that I understood the mechanism better than a brilliant science student that had another lecturer.
I didn't have to do anything extraordinary from what I've been doing in secondary school.
I would have been better off as an art student...but who do I blame for being in science; when my school put you in dept by force...everything for military na by force.
I was excelling in all other subjects except mathematics.
They assumed I was a good fit for science and put me der...and I was struggling for the rest of my academic life till graduation.

Do I blame myself for not being resilient enough to maintain my stance in a military school, or my parents for not accepting my own choice and refusing to approve my letter to the school
Or the school, for not giving us free hand to choose our departments in Ss1.

Me that was in ss2, but personally went back read my chemistry ss1 introductory textbook, yet e still no enter.
I can't come and kee myself for book o.

I've put my excellence into other pursuits

While I dont condemn anyone who had third class (or even a pass) upon graduation however, such an individual should have known that the employment world is no longer his terrain.
Focus on what u can do all by yourself rather than going about looking for job which isn't there.

A friend who's been disturbing me about possible job opportunity for his younger brother recently sent his brother's cv to me and when I saw third class, I advised him to lead his brother's focus into business world, fortunately, his brother studied Agric so, what could be more practicable for him that to go the way of farming?

My point is that good grades are good but it doesn't guarantee success in life. A number of my course mates are very rich in the real sense of it. One is Fed. Govt Contractor and owns a very big Customs Bonded Warehouse. His company handles and processes countless containers in a week. The vast land serving as the premises of the bonded Terminal is obviously insufficient thereby making trucks to line up for hundreds of metres on both sides of the public road and causing traffic. If you see his entourage you will marvel.
Another is a very popular mass transit company with more than 200 buses as at years back including many Sienna but they both notably graduated with "Pass"

Guess what? their staff are the brilliant brains.

I can go on and on. such scenarios are countless bro.

I never did. But such attitude is just pathetic and stupid cos I had to come in contact with students like this that had to struggle through school to know their pains. Sincerely I NEVER thought such people existed till.I got into tertiary institution. Infact from my pocket money,I had to pay for some school fees and hostel accommodation for them to squat as much as they could.

Today, I give God all the glory cos some of them got helpers ,navigated through these challenges and re now doing very fine
