There were people who lost properties to Lagos Ibadan expressway, there were people who lost properties to 3rd mainland bridge construction
there were people who lost property to the various rail projects all over the country

The public good is greater than any individual business interest

Gvt wont go and create new land to build public infrastructure

I pray one day your family house got destroyed for poor planning of the government.
And for an adult to think that government who cannot subsidize electricity or fuel or food for him is constructing coastal line for him grin
They just need contact to steal your money, what happens to our bad roads, refinery, ajokuta steal, lol we will find out in few years and count it as part of the abandoned project and your type will start supporting another government.

Attack the argument, not the person

But considering thuggery is your tribe's favorite occupation, I am not shocked...

These are the simple question that you and your ilk have refused to answer..

1. Does the present security situation in the country encourage any sort of tourism, coastal or not, highway or intra-state?

2. What exactly are the attractions in Nigeria's Coast that's worth building a 700+km Coastal Highway to see so much?

3. If Coastal Tourism is or has the potential to be such a big thing in naija, how much have Barbeach and other ocean-side beaches in Nigeria generated in revenue since inception, aside being a hotbed of Celestial Churches, drunkards, prostitutes and ritialists? ... Or is it that all those beaches are not "coastal" enough?

That's how your kind hyped the Tourism revenue generation capacity of Tinapa Resort, only for it to be end up being the graveyard of waste it presently is...

What are the issues?

(1) Landmark admitted they violated the right of way of FG.

(2) They have not proved that they own the coastal land.

(3) The demolition only affected some shanties, and hardly the main buildings.

(4) Landmark wanted to fight the project to protect their selfish interest.

(5) How come he didn't seek redress in court if he felt his land was forcefully taken away from him?

(6) Why are other businesses not making so much noise like Landmark?

If anyone wants to take his businesses out of Nigeria, he can consider the market and the operating conditions. Landmark goofed here. They never asked the right questions. They felt if they build on that land and stayed for long, it would automatically belong to them. The least I expected him was to find another location in Lagos to continue. Just inform your patrons of the new location.

How hard is that?
sir, are you alright? Do you know what you are saying ? I reserve my comment. I know you are a big man. When it gets to your turn we shall see it.

Road built on beach! Where will be the tourist centre? Don't you what is beach?

The road is not built directly on the beach. They will leave enough space for some beach activities. In some places, the space left will be small, and in some, it will be wider.
Eventually, hotels will spring up along the coast from Lagos to the end. That's foresight not thinking about just one business. Millions of Nigerians will benefit from this road in the long run.

You are not very smart. How many people do you see around the world traveling to places where there is no big body of water like an Ocean on vacation? In the US, more people would rather travel to Florida and California on the coast than travel to Idaho or Wyoming.
Even the Landmark guys know this simple logic, that is why he bought the land close to the beach. The beach is the biggest draw for his business, but unfortunately for him, he does not own the beach nor did he get permission from any govt to use the beach forever. He was allowed to use it while there was no overriding public interest.
Without the water, Landmark is just another hotel, nothing more. Use your brain. People travel all over the world to come to Florida, Santorini, Antyla, Agadir, California, and Zanzibar just for the Ocean views. I have been to them all.

Now that the govt wants to construct a road that will serve millions of people, it's only common sense to vacate the land.
BTW, is Landmark the only beach in that area? Many other beaches like Atican, Oniru, and others are also affected.

The Lagos state govt should revoke his license and kick him out for trying to incite people against the govt. He's a very dumb businessman, he has damaged the landmark brand forever. I can't imagine visiting his business any longer. Let him take it somewhere else.

Ask yourself if you are landmark will you be happy? The original plan for this road didn't pass through the beach. Why twisting it? If FG want to follow their new plan why twisting it along the line? Today Umahi confirmed that he adjusted the plan because of some building, houses he called 'high buildings'? Who are the owner of those buildings?
Who build road on beach? Are beaches no longer tourist centres? Umahi confirmed that there are other routes, but the FG wants the road to pass through the beach. Landmark has stepped on wrong toes politically, there is no other justification....

Whenever I see this kind of post from the people who got opportunity to have huge followers, I fear the future of the country because influencers got huge Influence on upcoming youths.
The mind of most influencers are shallow.
Most of the countries you guys look up to did many horrible things in their early years ( watch the men who build America documentary).
Developing means transforming, and in this stage many things will happen.
You will see the impacts of the decision years later.

I pray we do see the impact, when public holders place their immediate family members in key government positions and award contracts to friends and family. The America you mentioned are not a Saint but the leaders are accountable. Look at what we have in Africa especially West Africa. We are divided by religion, ethnicity and politics. Everybody is corrupt and only want something for himself.

I totally support the coastal highway but why not maintain existing highway to international standards, make it safe for the populace.

I guess all government appointees want is "This is My Project" weather it good or bad, and nobody is checking anybody.

Former Aviation Minister Hadi embezzled tax payers money all in the name of Nigeria Air, where is the money today. Nobody corrected/checked him because he is friend of the president.

Emefiele did the same thing with the naira too, making Nigerians loose billions of Naira to currency change, now look at the naira.

See if you truly love Nigeria, you will see above your ethnic, religion and political party, but if you are poor and depend on the political party for daily food, then you be their puppet and you indirectly destroying a whole lot of generations life due to your stupidity.

Finally look at Libya, Libya was way ahead of UAE in terms of infrastructure and all, they have similar leader structure but now one is strong and the other is in Chaos.

You can come for me and call me all sort of names, but soon reality will set in, and by then you will be old and d1e a very painful death.

I already explored both sides of the story. The crux of the issue here is that people are painting the case as though Landmark's buildings were demolished. I totally understand it's a beach resort and I faulted the LASG and FG for granting such licenses in the first place. I don't know if there's a clause saying government still had unfettered access to such locations, cos it's quite possible. Either ways, I hope he gets compensated well.
People patronise the business because of the beach, you take away the beach, you’ve killed the business. Government and everyone knows that, the government that gave the license to establish that type of business there also knows that. Why will a serious government that has a plan to build a coastal highway on a certain area and still give businesses license to establish there? Is that not wickedness?

the coastal highway is an international highway that will connect Nigeria through Calabar to Cameron, this is good for the development of Nigeria.

Government multitask because the government is made up of different departments and agencies.

Just because the government need to solve security does it mean that other areas wont be developed or infrastructures wont be built.

But what they don't know is that other investors who are not Igbos are also watching and taking notes.

I just they laugh those people because by the time they realise what they doing to themselves, I'll be like when Zimbabweans began chasing white people and their investments out of their lands in the 1980's thinking they were doing the oyinbos, only for the country to suffer from one of the worst economic crisis known to mankind a few years later grin
