There's nothing much anybody can do to stop Global Warming.

The effect of Greenhouse Gases is just a farce. Lake Sahara was about the largest body of water in Africa, spreading all over what is today known as the Sahara Desert. From Egypt and Sudan, Niger Republic, Nigeria, Chad and Mali. It shrank to what is today known as Lake Chad long time before the internal combustion engine was conceived of. During the time people were still riding horses, manufacturing by hand and using olive oil lamps. Today Lake Chad and other landlocked water bodies are still shrinking, the waters of the ocean are still rising due to meltdown of the polar icecaps just as it has done for hundreds of years.

The only thing world leaders can do is to start building arks or contribute money to use in developing and colonising Mars.

All these many, many diplomatic meetings will not take us anywhere. Global Warning is a Natural thing. There have been several meltdowns that flooded the earth. Noah experienced one of such.

So let's repent, heed God's word, and start building arks and loading them with every living organism. One male and one female. Except mosquitoes, HIV, Ebola and Bird Flu.

@denex
though global warming is natural, but why must we spead up the process before the day arrives,
In the last 100 years the rate at which new islands covered by ice caps before are discovered is alarming,
We africans must say no, because we will be most affected,

They are mostly the ones causing it , but we will also suffer .
because the world is global,

Anthropogenic climate change hasn't been conclusively proven. The costs of curtailing greenhouses emissions outweigh the alleged benefits.

There are more urgent causes that demand the world's attentions-malaria,poverty,AIDS-that could be addresed at a fraction of the cost it takes to deal with global warming.

There are nine known planets in the solar system. The earth is the only know planet today that supports life. The earth is divided into three main part;the atmosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere. It is a fact that if the atmosphere is non-existent life on earth will be impossible because of the various life-supporting gasses in it. The atmosphere contains gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor hydrogen and some trace gases.
Among the most important gases in the atmosphere are greenhouse gases. The sun that is the main source of Earth natural energy heats up the earth’s surface; This heat is radiated back into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases absorb part of this energy and use it to balance the earth temperature.
Greenhouse gases are of great importance to life on earth, as it has been estimated that the average temperature on earth without greenhouse gases would be -190 C. However, as we burn fossil fuels in our homes, power stations, and factories we release huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
In the last hundred years the earth has warmed up by 0.750 C. According to scientist the effects of global warming has brought great problems. The increase in temperature of the earth melts the ice caps, these dissolves into the ocean and increase the volume of water in the ocean thereby causing ocean surge. Analyst are of the view that if the rate at which greenhouse gases are released increases continuously countries in low lying areas are at risk of being submerged.
Furthermore increase in temperature as suggested by will change weather patterns all over the world and cause the extinction of some species of animals, increased rate of skin cancer and many more disastrous effect. As climate gets warmer it has been predicted that more than a quarter of species of butterflies will die out. This is because they would be forced to find cooler conditions but their favored habitats such as heath land will be impossible to find.
At the moment most of our electricity is generated in power station that burn fossil fuels, manufacturing industries releasing harmful gaseous substances into the atmosphere, poachers burn forest in order to get games, automobiles releasing harmful gases, and deforestation.
Green plant not only produces food for man but also take in carbon dioxide thereby reducing the level of green house gases. Plants use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis but this invaluable living thing is being destroyed.
The problem is however that some people still don’t believe that global warming is true. They argue that centuries ago there was also an increase in temperature. But this not with standing, this problem needs combined effort from all over the world.
In 1997 the United Nations conveyed a conference in Kyoto, Japan to discuss the setting of target for the reduction of pollution.
The solution however is that fossil fuel power station should be replaced with renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro electric, tidal flow, and wind energy. But the problem hindering the use of these energy sources is that they are less efficient. But the good news however is that in the case of solar energy, new solar cells with about 60 % efficiency are being developed and produced.
Deforestation should be seriously fought. In 2001 NASA satellites measuring the reflection of green light from vegetation, noted that Europe has become 12 % greener since 1981. This is due to increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere favoring photosynthesis. This helps to slow down the effects of global warming, as vegetation will remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
In Nigeria, deforestation combined with effects of global warming is fast becoming a problem. According to an official report that the Saharan dessert is encroaching southwards by 0.2 % annually and the ocean is overflowing its bank. The major cause of this two problem is deforestation and global warming.
It however appears that the Nigerian government is doing all it can to tackle this problem by starting a programmed green belt along the north border so as to stem the tide of desert encroachment and tackling ocean surge which affect coastline areas. This is a welcome idea but the effort should be collaborative. Strict laws should be made to reduce air pollution that increases concentration of green house gases in the atmosphere. If we can stop wasting energy less fossil fuel will be used and less carbon dioxide will be released.
It is interesting to note that if we use our cars less, walk or cycle will not only make us healthier, but will also reduce emissions. If we have to drive it is more efficient to share lifts or use public transport that accommodates more passengers. In short we all have to believe that we can make a difference by reducing pollution and in turn reduce global warming.
