I am interested, how can you get data on unqualified teacher
Do they tell you they are or does the relevant state ministry employ them despite knowing they are unqualified.

Or is this another nonexistent statistic just to give the usual suspects the ability to beat their chest over nothing to deflect from their one year plus bitterness over a Peter Obi third place position?Hmm!

But if the SE states were tops in tops in this bad stats you'll believe it, no be so?

Even the useless Rivers state that always claims they are not Igbos. I still wonder what Igbos really need these fools for, everything is zero for them and yet they are pompous of themselves.

*Business - Zero
*Craftmanship - Zero
*Education - Zero
*Farming - Zero
(Just good for nothing people)

Such a shame, please Igbos should stop attaching these failures to their names, for me; The people of Rivers state can go to h*ll, I don't give a shit about them.

Statisense should drop the metrics they use for all this data.
Like, it’s not realistic. We don’t even a data base system. How did they arrive at this?

Really?! We don't have a database of teachers in the country? Are you kidding me?

Lagos own is for sure. I relocated my family from owerri to Festac Lagos in 2022. Till today our greatest regret we are having is the quality of teachers and education we can lay our hands on, My kids know this aleeady. In Imo state school system, the students know their positions in class and the students that are not doing well study hard to come up academically. Here in Lagos they deliberately stopped it. When i asked for the reason, a teacher in my kids school told me if they do it, its always Igbo pupils that comes first and it was causing issues so they had to stop it. I was like what is this...

Let me group Qualified teachers in to categories.

1) National Certificate Of Education (NCE) Graduates from Colleges of Education are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

2) Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) Graduates from Universities are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

3) Bachelors of Science Education (B.Sc.Ed) and Bachelors of Arts Education (B.A.Ed) from Universities are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

4) Bachelors of Science (B.Sc) Graduates in a Subject Specialism holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) and Bachelors of Arts Graduates in a Subject Specialism holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License to practice.

These are the minimum Qualification to teach in both Primary and Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

TRCN means Teachers Registration Council Of Nigeria.

NCE Graduates from Colleges of Education are mostly Primary school teachers.

While the B.Ed, B.Sc.Ed/B.A.Ed, B.Sc/B A +PDGE/PDE Graduates from Universities are mostly Secondary school teachers.

Most Big Schools in Nigeria prefer to hire the 4th category of teachers. Even UK, Australia, USA prefer the 4th category becos of they did their Teacher training (Education training) at the Post Graduate Level.

Most Primary school in Nigeria today hire SSCE and OND graduates to teach in their school becos they don't want to pay NCE holders not to mention Bachelors Degree holders.

Why do I know these?

I am a Teacher and I started my teaching career in 2009 with SSCE while teaching in a Primary school. I was being paid N5k per month by the owner of the school. Talk about Depression.

Yet I heard when the owner of the school wants to fuel his car, he buys fuel of N25,000 as at then.

That's why I had to go to the University to further my education.

Teachers in Private schools are suffering.

This issue is deeper than we think.

School owners don't want to employ Qualified Teachers.

The Educational sector in Nigeria needs a total reform especially in Private schools.

Any school that can not hire qualified teachers and pay them what they deserve should be closed down.

Look at the massive failure at the last JAMB.

That should give you a clue that something is wrong somewhere.

Government schools have no problem cos they hire qualified teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools.

It is well.

Nigeria!

The Colleges of Education have the least UTME cut off mark. This means the olodos are the ones sent to the Colleges of Education.

Even in the Universities, the least UTME scorers are packed and dumped in the Faculties of Education. Students who could not cope in their respective courses are also transferred to the Faculty of Education.

And we want the best teachers to graduate and teach our children?
I said d same thing on twitter years back

You are wrong, it is because most schools would rather employ degree holders who are not qualified to teach. Most degree and HND holders use teaching jobs to pass time due to the soaring unemployment rate. These set of graduates know next to nothing about the intricacies of the teaching profession. Go to schools around you and find out. I did a project on this.
Can I have ur data analysis of dat project to verify your claim

This is a false report. I condemn it in its entirety.

40% of the primary school teachers in Lagos are unqualified? That is 2 out of every 5 teachers.

Impossible.

Do you know the recruitment procedure in Lagos? Aside being a qualified educationist, you write exams and attend interviews.
In fact, NCE holders can no longer teach in secondary schools, same with Ogun.

You have to list ALL the northern states because listing any Southwestern.

And Ogun and Lagos can never make the list in any way. Though there are imperfections, when it comes to education, both states are trying.

I hope this UBEC is not headed by an aboki?

Reckless assertion. Some couldn't afford university fees that's why they opted for college of education. And some due to one reason or the other are doing part time of which faculty of education is always the best for that. It's not all people that went to college of education or in faculty of education that are dullard. And it's not everyone that studies in the university or other faculties that are good.
Let me ask you as question and I would like you to state the truth please.

What school are you or what school did you finish from?

Well, I won't speak for Statisense and the accuracy of their stats, but the fact remains that Lagos state primary schools are highly understaffed when it comes to qualified teachers.

You can visit the nearest public primary school, you'd discover that at least 40% of their teachers are supposed to be non-teaching staff meanwhile they work as teachers.
The issue of lag occurs due to some reason: Japa, inadequate requirement, certification, etc

Around 2017 or 2018, it was in the news that a student tried to poison another one who had a better position than him.

Position was thus eliminated from students' report sheet. I don't know if many states complied but I know Ogun and Lagos did.
You can Google it or raise the issue here, I'm sure many people will remember.

Don't be quick to tribalise everything. Be informed and think. That is the essence of education.

This is not the matter of unqualified teachers but favoratism. There alot of qualified teachers that are unemployed . One of the factors dragging Northern Nigeria education backward. A qualified teacher with no connections or favor will not be employed that's the fact.
