I'm happy you picked the 2nd, 4th and 6th lines to get your rhymes. However lines 2 and 4 do not rhyme in verse 3. Also the song is very fvcked up in terms of metre with so many drawn vowels and skipped tones. Arise O' compatriots is far better

Arise, O Compatriots
Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past,
shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might,
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

Oh God of creation,
Direct our noble cause
Guide thou our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign
Who said all the lines have to rhyme? Arise O Compatriots is a boring song with zero rhyme and depth and I will happily throw it away anytime!

It's obvious you don't know rhymes
Check lines 2,3,4,5,6 of the first verse for the rhymes. The song is largely poetic and well balanced in terms of the metre

Lastly, the song has all the right words in terms of nationalistic fervour onile unlike the other one that you can't even reconcile with national aspirations.

P.S.
Is it Nigeria(Nai-ji-ria) or Nigeeri-i-a(Nai-jii-ri-a)? The Oyinbo was high when he distorted the country's name at the very first line of the anthem

Sir this anthem by OBJ's regime was military imposition. It had no buy in by ordinary Nigerian. Ordinary Nigerians did not want to be anybodies compatriots

It's even a shame that the so-called anthem they want to hurriedly bring back was written by the daredevil colonialists. When we should be erasing every vestige of colonialism including outlawing the celebration of so-called independence day, we're instead trying to revive them.

Old, retarded People in that House cant relate with anything New!
One day, they would opt for Indirect Rule and invite the British back to Nigeria. grin grin

Did you or any ordinary Nigerian have a buy-in when the girl friend of an imperialist colonizer named you "Nigeria" or when he imposed his own Anthem on you?
Maybe you want to be enslaved a second time.

That's not true.
I know the song is hated by Tinubu and his gang all because of OBJ.
It was actually Nigeria we hail that was imposed on the country without the input of any Nigerian.
Arise o' Compatriots was composed by more than one Nigerian from different tribes and it emerged through open competition.
It is a disservice to Nigerian ingenuity and passion to drop a wholly Nigerian song for a British colonial imposition.
Ghana changed name after independence.
Same with Burkina Faso.
Some other countries changed flag.
The anthem is the only thing that's truly Nigerian from the past and we're going back to a colonial song?!!
Maybe we should adopt God save the king after all we have two emirs who need saving presently.

We go backwards to go forwards. We will return to regions and regional anthems. We return to the old anthem, We will also have a new national anthem. This OBJ imposition just like the 1999 constitution is undemocratic.

You are talking to an avid regionalist who wants a Nigeria reset.

We go back to the old anthem, regional anthems and flags and scrap the 1999 constitution and then move on from there. We can have a new anthem but let's go backwards first.

Going backwards is the only way Nigeria will go forwards.

You are not returning to any region
Stop deceiving yourself bro.
All these hate for OBJ is a waste of time
At least it's obvious now who has more capacity between OBJ and tinubu.
Ethnic posturing can only take one so far.
Besides, that old anthem was rejected by the West the moment it was launched in the 60s so what's with the new love for the anthem
