How good is life in the Maldives?

I would say the health system is pretty good.

Everything else is in the pits. A lot of it is an oxymoron.

The only thing higher than the inflation is the unemployment rate. You will find youth with Samsung and Apple smart phones and riding motorbikes who are begging on the streets for a meal.

Everything is politicized to the extent that marriages have been broken due to it.

There is no national development plan. Each incoming government makes their own unsustainable 5 year plan that is not carried forward by the next government just to spite their political opposition.

Backbiting is the the national past time, closely followed in second place by people eating unhealthy food at restaurants they cannot actually afford just to keep up with social and peer pressures.

The country has the highest divorce rate in the world and the institution of marriage has less value than a quickie in a closet. Child abuse is at epidemic levels.

Despite calling itself an Islamic State, pre-marital sex is rampant (According to UNDP Study 97% have sex before marriage).

The waste management system is a disaster, the streets and beaches are littered with plastic/ metal waste.

The education system is in a complete mess. Anyone with a higher degree is always in search of a way out of the country.

If you are right with your last paragraph, the Hamas justified their actions by the October 7 unprovoked attack. Why can't the Hamas come out and fight the Israelis instead of using the civilians as shield it also means the civilians are aiding and abetting the Hamas which makes them accomplice in the crime or they too are afraid to speak against the Hamas.
