Dhul-hijjah, The Month Of Hajj, Fasting And 'eid! by Rashduct4luv(m): 11:19am On Jun 06
As is usual, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) headed by the Sultan vetoes the Lunar dates of Islam especially at the end of the month!

Today's date according to the moon sighting committee of the NSCIA is 29th of Dhul-Qa'dah 1445H = 06-06-2024

The moon for the month of Dhul-Hijjah is sought tonight and if seen Dhul-Hijjah starts.

If not seen then we count Dhul-Qa'dah to 30 and then start Dhul-Hijjah afterwards.

Dhul-Hijjah is the month of Hajj (Pilgrimage) to Mecca, the 5th Pillar of Islam.
1. The hadith narrated by al-Bukhaari (1521) and Muslim (1350) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit any obscenity or commit any evil will go back (free of) sin as on the day his mother bore him”

2. Al-Bukhaari (1773) and Muslim (1349) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “…an accepted Hajj brings no reward but Paradise.”

Dhul-Hijjah is also the month of fasting for the first nine days.
It is recommended to fast the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah!

It was narrated in the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him):
“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days – i.e., ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, not even jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself with his wealth and does not come back with anything (i.e., he expends all his wealth and is martyred).” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 969)

And it was narrated from Hunaydah ibn Khalid from his wife that one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast nine days of Dhul-Hijjah and the day of ‘Ashura’ and three days of each month – the first Monday and two Thursdays.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmad, 21829; Abu Dawood, 2437; classed as da’eef in Nasb al-Raayah, 2/180, but classed as saheeh by al-Albani.)

Dhul-Hijjah is the month of 'Eid.
The 10th of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of 'Eid! It is forbidden to fast on the day of 'Eid and three days after it.
The three days after 'Eid are called days of Tashriq.

1 – Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And remember Allah during the appointed Days.” [al-Baqarah 2:203]

These are the days of Tashriq. This was the view of Ibn ‘Umar and most of the scholars.

2 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said concerning the days of Tashriq: “They are days of eating, drinking and remembering Allah.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade fasting on these days : “Do not fast on these days, for they are the days of eating, drinking and remembering Allah.” Narrated by Ahmad, 10286; classed as sahih by al-Albani in al-Silsilah al-Sahihah, 3573.

Important Dates!
If the moon is sighted tonight, Dhul-Hijjah starts tomorrow, then:
Fasting days will be 1st-9th Dhul-Hijjah 1445 = Friday 7th - Saturday 15th June 2024.
'Eid day = 10th Dhul-Hijjah = Sunday 16th June 2024.
Days of Tashriq = 11th, 12th and 13th Dhul-Hijjah = Monday 17th - Wednesday 19th June 2024.

If the moon is not sighted tonight, Dhul-Hijjah starts after tomorrow. Then:
Fasting days will be 1st-9th Dhul-Hijjah 1445 = Saturday 8th - Sunday 16th June 2024.
'Eid day = 10th Dhul-Hijjah = Monday 17th June 2024
Days of Tashriq = 11th, 12th and 13th Dhul-Hijjah = Tuesday 18th - Wednesday 20th June 2024.

May Allah accept our 'Ibaadah and grant us Jannah!
