naptu2: Oga shift jare. You claimed it is colonial, yet I can see you dressed in English attire. The old national anthem is better than the one you co-authored. Yours sounds too military; the other one reflects our heritage. It doesn't matter who wrote it. It captures the essence of our being. Yours that I sang for over 46 years did not. As a matter of fact, I was 8 years and in primary school when it was introduced, and many of us did like the melody |

KendoRide: Trust me, the wordings doesn't mean anything to Nigerians. Even if the government wants to adopt Timi Dakolo's "Great Nation" or Funmi Adams' "Nigeria, My Beloved Country" as official anthem, there's absolutely nothing the people can or will do. It's unfortunate that in Nigeria, the power doesn't reside with the people. It's with the government. 1 Like |

Jayhome24: based on the highlighted, why then did tinubu see changing the national anthem as a priority? if chief omoigui is is just a co-author, how does that negate all he said? |

iyatrustee: I agree with you totally. We have both leadership and followership problem. We make it we versus them but as soon as we get to position of leadership, we become something else. As they say, people get the leaders they deserve. |

lexy2014: That's how it should be in an ideal society. But ours is not an ideal society. When the youth attempted to express their voice/power in 2020, bullets were rained on them at Lekki Toll-gate. This your "plausible deniability" is enough evidence that power is very far from the people. |

I stopped reading his nonsense when he mentioned Beyoncé. You criticize the old anthem because it was written by a foreigner but you need a. Foreigner to validate the one you wrote? I personally have never liked arise o compatriots and never liked the bland and boring green white green flag. 1 Like |
