Southeast has the largest number of multilingual nigerians. What the lady does is normal as she is probably living among Igbos in Lagos.

That's the problem with people like you who jump on conversations without verifying before jumping.
Go and listen to the narrative again.
If you lack the patience to listen or watch, then don't have the pressure to comment. Chikena!

She is not a resident of Lagos. Plus I think she's achieved an amazing feat.

Simple! I don't know why they're against the compliment given to the smart woman... To learn and understand a language isn't a small feat...
It isn't ooo.......I am still struggling with French here. You need to see how I was envious of both the lady and the guy interviewing her.

There are thousands of Ibos that speaks yoruba fluently, so this shouldn't be news.
It is news because your thousands of Ibos lived in Yoruba land but this lady here has never been to Igbo land before.

Going through the comment section, it's obvious these people are naturally haters and bitter people. Nigeria should just hold the damn referendum and let them go.

She is amazing because she lives in the south-west and speaks Igbo well. How many Igbos living in the south-east can speak fluent Yoruba?
You forgot an important question.

How many Yorubas reside in the South East?

You learn a language if you live with the speakers. That is the general fact. She happens to live with the speakers. Where the chances of living around the speakers is higher is completely irrelevant to the discussion. You can pursue a degree in rocket science if you wish.
I can see that you're just impossible....Mura si

You forgot an important question.

How many Yorubas reside in the South East?

Why would they reside where they are sitting at home on Mondays & killing each other like chicken? Igbos are flocking to Yoruba land for a reason and Yorubas have no reason to go to the east, except posted there by a company or military/police... There is basically nothing of interest to Yorubas in the South East...

Na una dey come here, no be we dey rush go una land.

My uncle learned to speak Hausa without going stepping his foot in the North. He learnt Hausa from his customers who came from the north to buy goods

When u were young and they keep speaking some languages to ur hearing, it would automatically register. U would see urslf speaking the language without remembering when u learnt it.

Very impressive. In Lagos Street in Benin, go and see how children that have never stepped on foot outside of the city are speaking Yoruba.

Just incredible.

This is childish from you.
You will understand when the time comes...
Because of tolerance, you guys start laying claims to entire state..
Such ridiculous audacity.
I went to Kano and visited an area. Their street names are 90% Igbo Because its a new area.
KNUPDA board immediately came up with a plan to give proper street names and numbers.
Mallam Aminu Kano already warn the northerners and their is no day they tend to forget or ignore the warning.

My dear, unless you stayed in the SW before, there's really a very little likelihood of you being able to speak Yoruba in the SE. I know my people are not plenty there...

Incredible…

The ibos in the house.. how was her accent? Expert or beginner?

They will answer you when you address them adequately. What is difficult about pronouncing "Igbo", not "Ibo"?. Did you not hear the young lady tell her interviewer that it is "Yoruba", not "Ofenmadu"?. "Muslim", not "Allakobar"?. All of you need to learn a little respect.

Dshocker:
She is an Igbo lady that speaks Yoruba.

Why i said so is; Igbo language is the most difficult amongst the 3 major ethnic group, when it comes to spoken language.

Before a non Igbo would be able to speak the language, he or she must have resided in the South East over a period of time.

So forget the way she wrapped a head/hair like a Muslim, she is an Igbo girl.
The interviewer himself speaks igbo fluently and he never stayed in the east so he is igbo too?
