lower all flag in Nigeria for Ojukwu and declare a nationa; holiday . Ojukwu must be honored like a dead president.

that has to be the worse statement for today so far, a warlord to be honoured like a dead president? and what flag should be lowered, the flag of biafra or the flag that he wanted be destroyed in the south east?

Ojukwu must be honored like a dead president.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by Nobody: 1:48pm On Nov 27, 2011
Why not declare a month holiday ?
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by musiwa43: 1:50pm On Nov 27, 2011
what nonsense are you talking about. It is the only way nigerian will know what danger they are in. only less than 20% know the history of the nigeria civil war.

Doing this, will help and in every state in the east and west and north. all governor should put up the biafra flag to remind people of our past., even in other states apart from the east. Place biafra flag close to a nigeria flag and lower both flags. so that people can understand what it is all about. I am yoruba and not an Igbo person. my friend. So get your fact right.

This point or week is a time of history and one of the most important time in Nigeria history ever. 1,000,000 were killed.

Ojuwkwu most be given state burial by the federal government of Nigeria. just like a president.  and deserved to be lay close to other president to remind people of history.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by Nobody: 1:57pm On Nov 27, 2011
What has he done to deserve a state burial ?
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by saintneo(m): 2:31pm On Nov 27, 2011
^^^ what has he done? Have considered what his death could do? Many will thing Becomerich's idea is wackie, but some how this idea might lead to healing of the divide amongst us. Even if it is not national burial, he should be given respect just as every politician in Nigeria is doing at his death.

How about name a military division after him. Or naming a major expressway leading from the north to the east as Biafra Express.

I never asked for insults, just contributing my two shots to this idea.

Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by musiwa43: 3:50pm On Nov 27, 2011
many will ask, why should Gowon receive national honor too. remember 1000,000 got killed under him. The procedure is that Gowon must wear a Biafra uniform on the day Ojukwu receive his gun salute. while other ex officers including Obasanjo must wear the nigeria army uniform, including IBB, adbul salami, buhari  all officer who fought the civil war  etc they must all wear nigeria army uniform. while all biafra ex  army  still alive will be allowed to wear their old biafra uniform for the last time.   Ojukwu must be buried with the biafra flag and the Nigeria flag together.

While 8 northern officers should be the one who burial  Ojukwu. While the parade commander must be a northerners.

The same will go for Gowon when he dies. Gowon must be buried with a nigeria flag and biafra flag. while igbo officers must buried Gowon.

UNN university should be named after Ojukwu and the airport in enugu

Why should we lower flags and delcare a national holiday.

Does it address the issues we face as a country which Ojukwu pre-warned and foretold which we are now suffering.

The greatest honour we can give him - if at all he wants it - is to address our problems so that the next 50 years will not be a tragedy. Unfortunately we won't as we have rulers who are believe in band-aids instead of surgical operation.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by PointB: 9:17pm On Nov 27, 2011
Or simplify the whole process and bury him with full honour as late President of Biafra. That will surely keep the amber of Biafra alive.

Nigerian hero or Biafran legend, Whichever way Ojukwu will not be buried like an ordinary man.

For a country he fought against?? How do people think? Keep deceiving yourselves! To an average man from another ethnic group, he represents &%$. . . . Same as other tribal leaders in Nigeria. Why should tribal leaders be given National honour? It because of him and his likes Nigeria is like this today!
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by Uchek(m): 12:58am On Nov 28, 2011
Jason123: It is not because of him that Nigeria is like this.

He never ruled Nigeria so he is not part of the political and military class that looted and pillaged Nigeria.

He never planted coup or usurped federal power or used access to Nigeria resources to enrich himself and his cronies like IBB, Abacha, Obasanjos, Dangumas, etc.

He did not fight against Nigeria. He fought against the issues which Nigeria is facing today. Example is the massacre and killing going on in Jos, Gowons hometown.

History - not our comments on Nairaland or dailies has rendered verdict on Ojukwu.

Why? is he the first igbo person to die?
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by Shock(m): 1:06am On Nov 28, 2011
He did not fight against Nigeria. He fought against the issues which Nigeria is facing today. Example is the massacre and killing going on in Jos, Gowons hometown

He did not fight against Nigeria, he just didn't want to be a part of it, and would fight tooth and blood to have his own "personal" country, his own flag, his own currencies, his own armies.

Now we are being encouraged to salute his courage, and lower the Nigerian flag, how nice.

We have a sticker for him here on nairaland---- https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-811678.0.html ----- I am sure that should do.

Nigerian hero or Biafran legend, Whichever way Ojukwu will not be buried like an ordinary man.

Plans are already on-going, I confirmed that he will be buried as the Former President of Biafra. And there will be Biafran flags from Awka and Amawbia to Nnewi and also from Onitsha to Nnewi. I was happy when I heard this cos I know Ikemba would always wanted to be buried a Biafran, just like some of his soldiers that died as Biafrans and was never Nigerians during the war.

**Its better to die a Biafran than live as a Nigerian**

musiwa,,.:

It's precisely this type of thinking that has destroyed Nigeria. That a former rebel who led his people to a suicidal war should be given a state burial!
My friend, search history, losers, like Ojukwu, like Ghadaffi, do not get such honour.
Anyway, it's a wishful thinking that can not materialize.

RIP Ojukwu, but i do NOT think we should lower flags and declare holiday for his death. We'll not have that flag or a national holiday to declare if Ojukwu had gotten his wishes.
