It's better for a zone to wait for a guaranteed 30 years that will be it's turn to 'have a shot' at the presidency than the current arrangement where it can take eternity and beyond for some zone to have a shot!

I notice some commenters saying that the 6 year single tenure encourages impunity, and others saying that it takes away incentives to perform since the president or governor have no second tenure to look up to; these commenters are all missing the point!

In a country like Nigeria where corruption is endemic and entrenched, and most people vote based on ethnic and religious sentiment, you don't need to be a genius to understand that in Nigeria, most times, an incumbent president or governor can easily 'win' an election (irrespective of his performance) either through corrupt means or by playing on the ethnic and religious sentiment of the majority group. Just imagine, for example, somebody like Buhari wining election for second term despite the disastrous first term all because Buhari comes from a tribe, zone and religion that has majority of voters plus, of course, elements of rigging and electoral malpractices. So what are we talking about?

Moreover, we all have seen state governors turn to monsters, while others become inefficient during their 2nd term in office since they feel they have no re-election to look up to and nothing to loose in their 2nd term. So what was the point of re-electing them in the first place?

No matter how you want to look at it, the bill is perfect for Nigerian situation as it ensures that all tribes and zones have a sense of belonging, no room for marginalization, and there is justice and fairness to all.

The only solution to issues of impunity and inefficiency raised above is for us to vote for a candidate who already have a well-known track record of achievement and respect for human right to serve for a single tenure of 6 years after which the power is moved to another zone where another person with a track record of achievement and respect for human right would be elected for another single tenure of 6 years then another zone takes over , not someone we need to test for for 4 years first and then re-elect him for another 4 years.

Prof. Idea is not good at all. 30 years for any zone to have a shot!
The present arrangement is best, it just need a little restructuring to be added.
