The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has called on the Federal Government to declare state of emergency in the state.

Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in Rivers, Chief Tony Okocha, made the call during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

He said, “Rivers State is at war. And the dramatis personae who are responsible for the mayhem that has claimed lives are known.

“The Governor is helpless, the police is helpless. Therefore the APC in Rivers State is calling for a state of emergency in Rivers State as a way of taming the mayhem, the upsurge that is going on in the state. I call on the Federal Government to act fast in this regard.”

The Federal Government is empowered to declare a state of emergency during a natural disaster, civil unrest, armed conflict, medical pandemic, epidemic or other biosecurity risk.

Okocha made the call after Governor Siminalayi Fubara swore in caretaker committee chairmen for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers.

Tinubu won't even dare it, unless you want to set the state on fire, while I really like Wike as a person, the body language of the River people especially the Youth shows that they support their Governor and doesn't want any external person influencing the governance of the state, nobody have the right to think otherwise, not even the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

I will have to accept the fact that wike is a very stubborn man. Even oshomole vs obaseki did not turn violent like this. Obaseki vs shuaibu didn't turn into an all out brawl like this. This is very shamful

Despite all the misbehavior and insult on Buhari by Wike, he never deployed Federal might on him.

He didn't even support Amaechi with Federal power.

The small Federal might Amaechi could muster by himself was never enough...

That was never what we call Federal might.
