Well I have worked for a number of multi-nationals, upon landing the job; they write to your university to verify your certificate.

It may take time, if your certificate was forged lol. You would definitely get sacked. The reason you were sacked would be documented, if you happen to land another job and the new employer needs reference…. do the maths. No peace for the wicked

Write to the registrar attached the certificate you want confirm. Alternatively, go to the school with letter from your organization meet the registrar demand for the academic transcript, it will be given to immediately.

I guess the op may be a victim of fraud.
But let's assume his concerns are genuine.

First, you can know it buy having indepth discuss with the owner on his past on school life
2. Compare the cert with another of same batch/ year
3. If you're a trained printer, look àt the paper quality and security features, fonts, signature, design, etc.

Why should the British,the Americans and even Canada and other Institutions in Europe be asking for another written and passed test from their own, before believing us,it's an embarrassment and insults.

I think schools across the country send the names of their certified graduands to Ministry of Education. So, it's just for them to open the portal to verify if the claimants name is there.

Yea, it's easy. Funny enough, my friend works in Federal Ministry of Education and just finished an M.Ed programme. They told him to request the school to verify his result. He had to go to the school, paid 15k and it still took about 2 months. Hahaha

Go to the school in question and verify with the candidates name, results and year of graduation, discipline and faculty with matric number.
Exams and records can be used to check for further screening too.

You write a letter to the registrar for certificate verification. You will specify what u want to verify, therefore, the year of entry and graduation, class of degree. And any other u want but Theyll not give u a transcript,that's only for educational purpose.

I have worked in a registrar's office and that's d procedure.

NB fees can be paid to some institutions for the verification.

I know someone who feels somebody used his waec results and probably used it to further his education. What can d person do? He's thinking of writing to waec to ask if someone accessed his file in the past... what do u think?

Check NYSC website and locate the senate list or list of graduated students. Search the year the person graduated. You will see list of all the students that graduated that year by selecting the name of the university and the year the person graduated.

google it by typing "how to verify .........University certificate online" Many schools have separate portal for certificate verification.Just ensure the site you visit has a link with the university website OR you can check verification slate from the school's website .

I also know the loopholes in all these systems. I'd rather stick with registrar's confirmation than the online verification.

Nigerians are smart asses!

If it's a Nigerian University, easy way is to get across to the school's official library to confirm the name, class of degree and year of graduation from the convocation book that's if the university hold their convocation very 1-2 years incase of recent certificate

if you are an employer and a potential employee presents a Nigerian university certificate, u either go to the school and the school checks their records and verify or you write to them. It's only the university that can check their records and verify

even if a certificate looks ungenuine, contact the institution that they claimed issued it. If u sack an employee because u think his certificate is not genuine, he can sue you. And when the court summons the institution and the institution confirms its genuine, one u have made a yourself and 2ndly you will pay for it for wrongful termination or dismissal

If you can spend good money, you will get authentic certificate without even knowing the school

the Easiest way is actually NYSC, there are sites where you can put the NYSC number to verify the candidate.

also you can Use SIWES, website. type the person name on google with the university, every Student that does 400level SIWES program in Nigerian Universitry, have thier details on that government dashboard, it will appear under SIWES in the google search.

SIWES will only show the person the person studied up to 400L but not guarantee the person graduated.
