Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed sadness over the prevalence rate of touts and extortionists at the country’s international airports.

Keyamo registered his displeasure over the development in a post on social media.

I have received several complaints about the menace of begging and extortion at our International airports by a few unscrupulous persons who give all of us a bad image. My phones are beeping every minute with messages about this from well-meaning Nigerians.

Just to set the records straight, most of the agencies involved in this menace are not under the control of the Aviation Ministry, though they are stationed at our airports. However, I have been working closely with other Ministers, arms of government and agencies who are responsible for these agencies and a solution is in sight soon.

We are all working under the coordination of the National Security Adviser who called a meeting a few days ago on this issue and we shall soon unveil practical steps being taken to stem this ugly tide. We thank Nigerians for their eternal vigilance on this issue

Playing to the gallery like the politician he is. The party that appointed you came to power through thuggery extortion and bullying so you dare not go against that practice. He is only absolving himself of any wrongdoinf before the focus on his ministry intensifies.

The thing is too much there. Almost all the workers there expect you to drop something, not just Lagos but all Airports in Nigeria though it's too much in Lagos airports

Honestly that behavior is more than annoying and at the same time embarrassing. An immigration officer will take your passport and begin to cook stories just to get something from you. Same with customs . Then the trolley service people. Even the janitors at the bathroom, they want to extort you for toilet paper and water. Airlines staff nkor? Those ones will torment you with their scale asking to take out almost everything, just to stress you, until something enters their hand. Whenever I pass through Airport in Nigeria, I can’t help but to wear my patience hat

Even when things were supposedly good, they were still begging

It's a true reflection of economic reality in today Nigeria even though it's been existing but it was not this conspicuous.Many could hardly afford one meal in a day considering the high cost of food items for instance,one measure of beans is now being sold for N3000 in the north where it is supposed to be the cheapest.
