That's a blatant lie. What he needs is a good publication and industry experience equivalent to work experience and he is good to go. Remove GRE from there get PUBLICATION/s
So he should manufacture a publication and also work experience?

A lot of reasons why most of you are stuck is because you have failed to go by line of conversation.

From his post, he didnโ€™t mention he has publication. He was worried about his low GPA and mentioned the possibility of writing GRE, yes GRE will help his case because I have someone who was specifically told to submit GRE which was not a requirement due to his low GPA.

Publication will surely help his case, but GRE will help suffice as well if there are no present publication or better work experience. No where did I mention that Publication will not help his case, but does he have one?

Some of you sit there and think publication is as easy at it comes that you can get within 2-4 months.

I can share people who were specifically told to go write GRE so they can be considered.

Good morning house,

Thanks.

Hi OyotunjiUSA. Pls i want to ask this question onbehalf of a distance relative.

If i have a dual citizens of US and Ghana can i also apply for a US visa inside my Ghanaian passport ? He has been looking for his US passport and time is going so he want to use the Ghanaian one ?

Thanks

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Yes, USA allows dual citizenship but all dual citizens must follow certain rules for the rest of their lives providing that the USA citizenship is being kept, regardless of their other chosen nationalities.

2. The strongest of the rules is that , you must enter and leave the United States only on your USA passport. You are not allowed to enter on your other dual citizen (Ghanaian) passport.

3. USA citizens are not eligible for USA visa.

Say what you know and leave the rest. If you are seeking a Phd which is mostly a research work you should show your capability to conduct a research on your own. I have publications Oga. You can do a systematic and meta analysis research paper. It's all easier and watch the magic.

My friends wrote GRE many of them without publications and still nothing for them. People with low GPA and good publications get accepted check reddit and see for yourself.

You want Americans to give pay for your research PHD and you can't prove to them that you have the capacity to conduct a research on your own. That's where the high CGPA comes in. No one have time there to be teaching you what you are supposed to know already from M.sc thesis.

This how it works. If you can't conduct a research, meet some of your lecturers ask them to be a co author so your name can be included in the paper. And meet some of your friends too, the smart ones that are about publishing a paper to include your name. They can ask you to contribute with the publication fee.

Good luck

There are lots of people who got PhD straight with a bachelors degree with zero research publication. So I donโ€™t know what your fuss is about?

Some even got PhD admission with their HND degree without a research publication.

Where did I mention that it is not good to submit research publication if you have one? Or research publication wouldnโ€™t help your case?

I shouldnโ€™t have responded to you.

Visa application fee: GTBank can make the payment for you, just walk into a branch and get it done, or you may try it yourself via the mobile app.

SEVIS fee: You can't make the payment using Nigerian issued card, even if it's a dormiciliary account.

Cheers!

I donโ€™t think you can. You are applying for emergency appointment based on the initial location you scheduled your appointment.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. If its a Phd admission defer to Winter/fall 2025. You have to be a multi-millionaire with constant flow of income to be able to self-fund a PhD education.

2. Even if you have the resources to self-fund, it's still a disrespect or a dishonour for a would-be professor (you) to enter into a PhD program with a record of no funding. That is why the sender of the email really want you to defer to fall 2025.

3. Even in the presence of the USA consular officer, PhD applicants/Students are expected to secure at worst 75% of fundings. They want you to master the arts of securing fundings because at a later years of your career , you will become a professor (like the sender of your e-mail) and start living on Research /Grant Proposals in order to sustain your department, incoming Phd students and yourself.

4. If it is Msc admission and you have more than enough financial ability to fund yourself in the case of total disappointment in fundings from the school (according to the Professor's advise), then go ahead and apply for your F1-VISA.

PS: Your professor is awaiting a grant proposal outcome, so i think she is being honest. She is in the position to keep your spot if she really wants you which looks so according to her detailed email.

Defer to Fall semester. Most funding opportunities are usually open then. Meaning most student graduate in spring, so there might be opening for you.

He sounds very willing to offer you one if there was any available.

Good day family.
Thanks so much for all the advice given here.
I have been sending numerous emails and there are few replies. Out of all the email I sent, two said there is no funding and the other said that my qualifications are good but he is applying for funding and will save my contact for when an opportunity arises.

Please what do you advice I do with this particular professor. Should I send him another email to remind him?

I don't want it to look like I am only after the money and not interested in his research. I am going for a PhD.
I need your advice please.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. You have to keep sending emails to various institution for positive admission reply . Any professor who promises a future admission is actually expecting fundings in the form of various grants and such expectation can be delayed or postponed.

2. As for the professor who has promised you , you have to keep sending a reminder email once in a while . No real professor would think you are after money. He understands that Phd application is based on passion and that the money/funding aspect is of utmost importance since no Phd student can survive without it.

Good Evening pls I need your advice.
I have Hnd in statistics Upper Credit
And Bsc Applied Mathematics and statistics First class
1 Publication,
I wrote my Gre today but my Result is not palatable I had 144 verbal and 144 Quantitaive
And Am looking for school with full funding in Msc Statistics in USA, I will be glad if u can suggest or Help me with advice on Next step to take, thanks
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by JohnZak: 1:59am On Jul 30
My suggestion is that you rewrite your GRE. Your scores are below average or average at best. Either way, they are not competitive for someone who is seeking full funding. You will likely be competing against a bunch of Asian students who have better scores.

While a publication is generally an asset, if you are not the first or second author, or if the paper is not highly cited, or published in a high-impact journal, it will likely not offset your low GRE scores. You have a top GPA in your bachelorโ€™s program. Get your grades WES-certified and retake the GRE.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. You have almost best CGPAs from two different educational bodies which is a proof that you are an outstanding student. Do not focus on full-fundings because Msc degrees does not enjoy higher fundings unlike Phd.

2. Because of your academic prowess, i would rather you focused on seeking Teaching Assistant. Your overall academic standings regardless of your poor performance in GRE should signal to any school's department that you are a potential professor/teacher (that is if your focus is on that academic route).

3. Essay, Letter of recommendations (LOR), Statement of Purpose (SOP), Your publication, Undergraduate projects ie internship or research experience with professor (s) from your alma mater can all be a game-changer for you.

4. There are more than 4,000 institutions in the USA. Dont wait for no one. Use Google to navigate Research Universities in the USA and email the departments of your interests. Go to their staff profiles and send relevant emails to specific faculty staffs/lecturers /professors.

5. You may try to rewrite the GRE but dont rely on it. Some departments are looking for you as a potential scholar but you need hard work as narrated in sense 4 above to locate them, and at the same time application wisdom as narrated in sense 3 above to convince any potential department or admissions panel.
