Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob has reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to support initiatives of the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF for the overall growth and development of the populace.
Mr. Bob stated this while playing host to UNICEF officials in his office.

The Commissioner expressed the readiness of the State Government towards resolving the challenges outlined during the meeting to ensure successful implementation of UNICEF programs and projects in the State.

The Leader of the delegation, Dr. Anselem Audu, Head of the UNICEF office, and Dr. Abe, who oversees Health programs for UNICEF at the meeting, discussed critical issues hampering the State's vaccination efforts.

Dr. Audu emphasized the need for the State Government to ensure the safety and efficacy of vaccines in the State.

He highlighted concerns about maintaining vaccine potency, which is crucial for the success of the immunization program.

In his remarks, Dr. Abe addressed specific challenges in the preservation of vaccines, including inconsistent power supply at the State storage facility.

His words "these storage conditions are vital for maintaining the required cold chain to keep vaccines effective"

Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Christopher Udoh, and the Director, International Cooperation, Dr. (Mrs) Uduak Ekong.
