The way some people make excuses & justify some obviously hanky panky moves by the apc is mind-boggling.

What they condemned under pdp is now acceptable and proper under apc.

RhinoChest:
The OP is just trying to mislead the gullible and hasn’t done his homework correctly.

^^^
You will have to prove this. We can't just take your word for it.

RhinoChest:
Budget are like shopping list of items, and the items only get bought if you have the money.

^^^
This is misleading.

Items are not bought only "if you have the money". Nigeria routinely buys stuff she doesn't have the money for. To pay for all this stuff, she borrows. Nigeria spends more than she earns and that's why she is always borrowing - from anyone who will lend, home and away. No one is thinking of what will happen when foreign creditors come to collect way down the line. Those foreign loans are a big problem that will not go away and that's why people should speak up and act now. Who's going to repay these loans? Is it fraudulent leaders with one foot in the grave? Or is it children still in primary school who have no clue of the hardship that awaits them when the interest payments are due 20 years from now? undecided

RhinoChest:
What this current administration has simply done is to ask the National Assembly, which is within their constitutional right if parts of the budget that wasn’t fully implemented could be implemented, if we can generate the funds? The NA said go ahead, but we extending it to Dec 2024.

^^^
undecided

This isn't true.

"If we can generate the funds"? "If we can generate the funds"?!

We are not generating anything. undecided The FG doesn't have the money and it will have to borrow (internally or externally) to cover the shortfall. That is all there is to it.

A supplementary budget isn't simply a request for full implementation of an appropriation bill that has already been passed into law - as you have disingenously claimed up there. By definition, a supplementary budget includes items that were not part of the appropriation bill initially approved by lawmakers. It is a request from the executive to parliament seeking approval for additional spending outside the budget passed initially. That's all it is.

RhinoChest:
If judiciously spent, it would basically mean more projects for Nigerians to benefit from. In my earlier analogy, it simply means the current government will fulfil past and present orders together.

^^^
grin

"Judiciously"?

There are some words that we should quietly drop and allow to fade away. This word 'judiciously' is one of them. Can you remember there was a time (in the 1980s & 1990s) when every propaganda piece from the FG had the word 'virile' in it? Well...Nigerians took all those references to virility in a very literal way - and we are now over 200 million people, most of whom are poor, hungry and very angry. undecided Proving our virility was a national assignment...and Nigerians dutifully answered the call. undecided We now have all these mouths to feed...and there isn't enough money or food to do the job. That's why the word 'virile' has fallen out of favour.

Nigeria is the headquarters of profligacy. We don't do 'judiciously'...and that word too is going to fade away quietly into the darkness.

RhinoChest:
So if N2 billion was budgeted for health ministry in the unfulfilled budget of 2023, the health ministry get that money plus the current money, which they are entitled to, thus making them more buoyant to fulfil their objectives.

^^^
grin

Ok.

How does justify running 4 budgets concurrently?

How does infrastructure increase purchasing and reduce inflation ravaging the country?

How does infrastructure stimulate growth?

What is growth? What is the impact of growth?

Has Nigeria ever lacked growth?

Who will run fibre optics thru the length and breadth of Nigeria?

Which agricultural produce do you want to store in your imaginary mega storage when bandits determine who goes to farm?

Banditry is part of the story but not all. Solutions would come up to end it in due course but areas least affected can have the storage facilities.

Also, you need these infrastructures to stimulate growth and lift people out of poverty. Good roads and functional seaports lead to improvement in logistics for goods and services, exports, foreign earnings and prosperity.

Power generation is the bedrock of any prosperous economy, and improving it output would mean immense prosperity for homes and businesses.

You also need money to train and equip your security outfits to protect lives and businesses. All these things require money, and that’s my point.

Carryovers of projects that is plausible should be considered for implantation cos govt is a continuum!

My fear is the intention is far from closing budgets through implantation but to scrap off funds and abandon ship under funny excuses!

It happens in homes but u must be honest and sincere when you receive funds for outstanding projects! It's good we have ppl tracking the progress of the implementation of budgets but this NASS are pros in wuruwuru!

Transparency hence is needed.
