The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has commended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, for his determination to recover stolen assets and end corruption in Nigeria.

Obi made the commendation in a statement posted on social media on Monday.

The former Anambra State Governor praised Olukoyede’s recent alarm on the massive looting of the nation’s treasury and assets by public officials, describing it as a commendable effort.

He reiterated his long-held stance on prioritizing the tackling of grand corruption, which he believes has ravaged the economy and impoverished citizens.

He said, “The recent alarm that was raised by the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede on the massive looting of our treasury and assets by public officials in Nigeria deserves commendation.

“I have consistently advocated for prioritizing the tackling of grand corruption, which has ravaged our economy and impoverished our citizens. I urge anti-graft agencies to focus on investigating grand theft and corruption in government and public asset management, such as oil theft, budget padding, contract inflation, embezzlement, and misappropriation of public funds. It’s also crucial to hold those who engage in cronyism and nepotism. Lesser agencies can handle minor cases of petty theft and money spraying at parties.”

Obi urged anti-graft agencies to focus on investigating grand theft and corruption in government and public asset management, including oil theft, budget padding, contract inflation, embezzlement, and misappropriation of public funds. He also called on the agency to hold accountable those who engage in cronyism and nepotism.

Great, now Obi can continue hiding his own stolen assets while pretending to care about ending corruption.

Oh wow, I'm sure Obi is just thrilled that the EFCC is finally going after stolen assets and corruption. After all, nothing says I'm innocent like being praised for doing the bare minimum. Keep up the good work, Obi! insert eye roll

Obi is a clean politician.
That's why he is not afraid of EFCC or indeed any government anti corruption agency. Obi is a model of decent politics.
But Nigeria is not a country where decent people are given opportunity.
Imagine our president, who has had several corruption cases, The Senate president with numerous corruption cases and all of them in power today having been docked for corrupt practices

yarimo:
That won't stop EFCC from investigating your rascality as failed former Governor of anambra state

Proper nouns ("EFCC," "Anambra State" ) should be capitalized.
"Rascality" is a less formal and more colloquial term; consider using a more formal term like "misconduct" or "alleged wrongdoing."
The sentence is accusatory and should be phrased cautiously.
Proper use of punctuation for clarity and correctness.

Corrected Version:
"That won't stop the EFCC from investigating allegations of misconduct during your tenure as the former Governor of Anambra State."
