V boot was a classic that ruled Nigerian roads in the 90s......it was adored and it had the presence any where it was parked......your experience must have been quite peculiar

I think the first batch was defective. Ie the initial production. Ours was one of the first out of the factory. Usually those ones have defects that are then fixed on later productions.

That was the poorest selling w series in a long time......intact it was the beginning of the decline for the high end s class mercedes models.....the e class does far better in sales

It's possible that the decline has something to do with the fact Princess Diana died in it while trying to escape from paparazzi undecided

Gone are the days that you can say there are two types of car - mercedes benz and others. Benz 200 was a legend. I don't think, though, there's anything in today's benz cars that stand them over and above Japanese cars especially toyota.

I remember in 1991 my dad came back from Germany where he purchased a Merc, we were all hoping he'd come back with at least a V-Boot(W124) as we sure as hell knew it wouldn't be the just out S-Class(W140), only for us to open the gate for his arrival and him roll-up in a (albeit mint condition) W123 angry

, even my mum jestingly voiced her disappointment to him grin
