The question was do they have to follow the act I.e can LG election be nullified if the act was not followed. Do they even have local government election tribunal?

The recent Supreme Court judgment is nothing but a deliberate subversion of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Federal Government knew it will be difficult to amend the constitution, they have to do it through the back door by influencing the so-called wise men at the Supreme Court to do their bidding. Firstly, the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to entertain the matter of local government autonomy, because it is a matter of constitutional amendment; which is basically, within the purview of the legislative arm of government. Secondly, the way and manner of allocation and distribution of funds from the federation account to the local government councils is unambiguously stated in Section 162 (5-cool of the 1999 Constitution. Therefore, unless that section of the constitution is amended, the impugnable judgment of the Supreme Court is a usurpation of the powers of the legislative arm, ultra vires, an exercise in futility, retrogressive, inconsistent with the provisions of the 1999 constitution, and of no effect. The Supreme Court only succeeded in creating a constitutional conflict. I know sooner or later it will reverse itself. Time shall tell.
