Following the historic Supreme Court Judgement granting Local Governments autonomy, LG elections are going to be keenly contested. However, if the State Governors are allowed to continue conducting those elections, it is likely that they will continue choosing who becomes LG Chairmen and Councillors.

To ensure that there is a level playing field for all parties, I strongly suggest that President Tinubu should go a step further to get the constitution amendment to mandate INEC to conduct LGA elections.
