tinubu on day 1 said subsidy gone. It went to 620. Months later they floated naira meaning exchange rate double. Since fuel is imported the price should move with exchange rate. It didn’t because it was being subsidized.

we have been subsidizing

fuel
electricity
dollars

also possible there are other items eg gas.

i used to listen to smooth fm and all the talking heads always warned that the day would come when we could no longer kick the subsidy can down the road
