Most of those who called themselves engineers are not qualified to be called engineers.

Most Nigeans award contracts to their brother's whether they have engineering degrees or not

I don't know how many years the building has lasted, maybe, just maybe, it was not 'poorly' constructed, but the lack of routine maintenance contributed well to this.

At the foundation level ..... You know Pass inspection officers those houses are closed to 15years now and no sign of cracks or whatever

The more structural engineer we have this days the more building collapse .

Some is doing what he knows best for the past 20yrs and no of buildings has been in distress or collapse, here you are saying trash

Imagine paying high school fees and yet such tragedy occurs not because of a natural disaster or some force beyond human control but because of the selfish owner and those involved in the building. Building collapse is so common in Nigeria and I think our leaders should start looking into it. Like we hear news like this regularly and nothing seems to be done on issues like this. In all my life, I have not heard of school buildings collapsing on it own in Europe, USA and the developed countries even with all the natural disasters they face. The likes of china, japan have very high buildings and we don't hear of collapse the way one and two story buildings collapse in Nigeria.
