jubrilELsudan: What stops you from becoming a farmer and selling your own for far less or even free? Or is there any law that says you should sell at a certain price? There are so many farmlands lying fallow, free from herdsmen wahala. Cultivate on it and do as you please with your farm produce, instead of sitting somewhere wailing as usual. |

People have to be fed Prof, every other permutation can come later. Its uncertain if 150 days would be sufficient to solve the food scarcity crisis. |
Re: Food Importation May Destroy Nigeria’s Agric Sector – Akinwumi Adesina by techaboki: 11:31am On Jul 14 |
Oloki: And the way out according to you is to import, further weakening the naira while coming back to blame government right? If you're "too big" to farm, then be ready to buy at exorbitant rate because the way out is for more people to go into farming so that we'll have excess in supply. And this new government policy will not crash the price of foodstuffs because it's a temporary solution. Even at that, the price of bread will only crash by maybe N100 or N150. De play |

anonymous1759: Who know you? What is the weight of your support? Plus your support, minus your support, you go still buy beans N2600 for a mudu. Plus Tinubu import, minus Tinubu export, you go still buy garri for N2000 paint bucket. Again, what is the weight of your support? Is it by supplying the farmers farming input or by tweeting and typing on a faceless forum? You too, go and farm so that you can be exploiting Nigerians. Abi you no want cash out ni? |

aywagze: I don't know how to even reply you, you call this load of God knows what intelligent? Bro, almost every country on earth import one type of food or the other. You see Iowa as a state could feed the whole Nigeria despite having a tiny population. Why? Efficient farming methods, infrastructure, subsidy, security, stable economy and so on. You can't do without import, unless you're North Korea, even they import clandestinly. It's how the global economy works - exchange. US, China, India, Brazil, Russia and so on all this country are so agriculturally advance that they can choose not to import anything, but they don't. It's incredible folly to do so,madness even. This fool you called intelligent knows firsthand what needs to be done to get Nigerians out of this starvation, but like the typical politician, he barely cares, only his interest. I'm sure he's well fed, but that couldn't be said about millions of Nigerians currently starving. Wake up! If you don't body go tell you. You see that 1k bread you Dey chop Dey yarn rubbish, it may pretty soon cost 7k. Impossible right? Your eye go clear. |

anonymous1759: I have never thought of it this way. I knew something was wrong somewhere. In essence, these farmers are getting the fertiliser and subsidy, yet not producing are in a way embezzling the funds. Naija problem na citizens walahi. |

treesun: These external advisers should just leave us alone. Can they allow us to breathe in peace. Already, we have economic saboteurs, the farmers and the business market themselves sabotaging and taking advantage of the process to make excess profits. They even take the produce to neighbouring countries to create artificial scarcity just to drive the prices up. They corner the FG for funds and fertilisers support to enhance productivity yet use this to impose unnecessary hardship on the populace. We all are aware that Nigerians across the divides and sectors takes naturally advantage over the masses, causing artificial hardship. Thereby enabling themselves as our benefactor, seeing us at their mercy for survival. In order words, we need the market to be flooded with excesses to help drive the cost of food to the barest minimum, it is what fits our people. When we are moved by compassion rather than quest for money and oppressive mentality, we can begin to think of what is harming our economic sectors. We are not ripe for that. In the Uk, US etc, go in the store, you will find fruits and food items imported from all over the world - it creates varieties and options, and healthy competition. |

treesun: Show us the Video where he shared is own opinion... But then Food importation is temporal measures... To keep the economy stable... Are those imported food shared to Nigerians for Free? We will still purchase them with our Naira .. All this high ranking profile... Who probably don't buy a paint rubber of Beans or Rice... Will come to social media and spill rubbish... The reality here is it's no longer funny .. Food is inaccessible and expensive. |
Re: Food Importation May Destroy Nigeria’s Agric Sector – Akinwumi Adesina by sulaak(m): 12:43pm On Jul 14 |
oluwaseyi0: Food prices are directly linked to insecurity across the country, such as the lack of mechanised farming and fertiliser. Food importation will not reduce the cost of food, and Nigeria will be too poor to afford the imported food. Nigeria needs better leaders than the rubbish in APC government. |

jubrilELsudan: Probably because of the cost of production the farmers provide electricity for themselves some of them in the north even pay heavy amounts to bandits before they can even access their own farmlands. |
