Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has said that Nigeria and Africa could not realise their significant future prospects if the youths continue to engage in corruption and cybercrime.

Greater prospects for Nigeria and Africa in the future will not be attainable if our youths continue to wallow in corruption and cybercrime,” Mr Olukoyede, who was represented by the assistant commander of the EFCC, Ibadan zonal directorate, Hauwa Garba Ringim, said.

He added, “African youths, especially Nigerian youths, must demonstrate exceptional innovation and dedication in order to make positive impact in the society.”

According to a statement published by the EFCC on Wednesday, the anti-graft czar made this statement at the 2024 Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) Award ceremony, held at the Obafemi Awolowo University over the weekend.

In response to Mr Olukoyede’s comments, several netizens have urged the EFCC to direct its efforts towards tackling the corruption of high-profile politicians rather than focusing solely on the youth.

“After harassing the youths. Abeg, where is Yahaya Bello?,” posted @Vinosky01, sharing an image of the fugitive politician.

Another user, @Blunt_Clime, argued that “The politicians are the cause of fraud by youths. Prosecute the thieving politicians to secure the future of the youths; otherwise, nothing on earth will stop them from committing fraud.”

So the sorry State of Nigeria today from the post indepence Nigeria including the massive looting of the country by the corrupt elites are all due to the youth corruption?

See as he craftily left out the core corrupt politicians( including the despicable man that appointed him into a corrupt office) to be hampering on what the young protégés learnt from the same old corrupt brigade politicians. See a hypocritical pastor that sees white but desperately trying in futility to change it to black.

Yahoo boys are stealing change while polithievians are stealing trillions.
So trillions being looted by these polithievians do not hinder growth of Nigeria?

Assuming this is true.....

That means, the government of Nigeria has failed her citizens....

Crimes overwhelming high is due to the failure of the government and it's policies.

You should expect crime when you barely provide jobs or enabling environment for creativity to strive.... The people's sustainability is on the policies of the government.

Some youths who used to pay their ways at an affordable price to work with peanuts can't even do that now with the rising hike of transportation and little wages.

While youth involvement in cybercrime is problematic, focusing solely on them ignores the larger issue of systemic corruption among political elites. High-profile politicians, often implicated in massive embezzlement, set poor examples for the younger generation. Tackling corruption effectively requires addressing it at all levels, not just among the youth. Prioritizing the prosecution of corrupt politicians can set a stronger precedent and foster a more comprehensive approach to curbing corruption nationwide.

Even the RCCG's pastor, Olanipekun Olukoyede, who is now the EFCC chariman, is also like the others. Of course he can't taclke the most corrupt group: the politicians. He'd rather he beat about the bush and pretend he doesn't know who the real culprits are! What a corrupt man with a Bible!

I remember when the lead pastor, E.A Adeboye wanted to organise a one million man match to protest against Jonathan's administration when things was going bad. Yeah, it was a nice thing to do. Surprisingly, now things are the worst, he has been hypocritically silent so as not to hurt his party, APC, and biggest benefactors.

RCCG has become the religious wing of the APC.

But the corrupt elders stealing the nation's commonwealth isn't preventing the country's progress right?

By all means, I condemn scammers regardless of age, but EFCC has failed in its duty cos they have failed to stop corruption at the highest level in Nigeria.

Nigerian politicians steal from Nigeria... the youths steal from foreign countries... So which one has a more direct effect on the people?
