The point is that, the senators are now doing the works of either the LGA, the governors etc, its either they scrap the senate or the house of representative.

I watched the full video of this motion over a week ago and I know Akpabio only cautioned against one of prayers of the motion that the community market when rebuilt by The Area council or FCTA, should be given back to the current owners at subsidized rates.Akpabio only implied by his comments that the parliament should pass motions that are implementable.

Ignorance is indeed a disease. Under the 1999 constitution of FRN, the National Assembly is the "state house of assembly" of the FCT, while the President and VP are the governor and deputy governor respectively. The FCT minister is just using delegated authority (just like every other minister). So the motion of Sen. Kingibe is not out of place.

What's the fuss all about? I think Akpabio misunderstood the submission of the senator. She didn't call for the FG to intervene in reconstruction of the burnt market, but clearly sought the help of FCDA and AMAC. Let's not make stir storms in a tea cup

Do you people know anything about the kind of federal system we re practicing in Nigeria? The federal govt can take about 55 percent of the country's revenue and share 45 percent amongst the state and LGA, but the same fed govt can't rebuild it own FCT market through it FCDA. What re they supposed to do with all the huge percentage they allocate to themselves? Embezzle it? Make una dey use una head they think properly. If we choose to practice this shambolic federal system of govt the way we deem fit when it comes to allocating resources, then we should be willing to take up proportionate responsibilities.
