Nigeria's Dangote refinery is in discussions with Libya to secure crude oil for its 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) plant and is also exploring options to source oil from Angola, according to a senior executive. This move comes as the refinery seeks to address challenges with domestic supplies, Reuters reported.

The long-awaited $20 billion refinery has been hailed as a transformative force for Nigeria and the energy sector across sub-Saharan Africa.

However, since the refinery began operations in January, it has faced difficulties in securing adequate crude supplies within Nigeria.

When the CBN was selling dollar to Dangote at NGN200 per $1 and other businesses were forced to buy at NGN800, we didn't see Dangote complaining, when the previous government and some northern elite fought with BUA not to reduce cement price so that Dangote can keep selling at outrageous prices, Dangote didn't complain. Just a year after the same man he supported came to power and checked his monopoly he's all over the news and social media complaining.

When he paid the Lagos state government $100m for the refinery land, he didn't inform the public that he bought it for that price, they were even fighting with the land owners to pay a meager sum of $4m. Now they've fallen out he's now looking for sympathy.

Dangote is no different from these politicians.

I wont be surprised if he was planning to get cheaper crude or even free crude by cozying up with the current administration. He has gone abroad to buy crude oil and they have charged him real dollars, not CBN subsidized, he has paid shipping fees to international oil tankers. After seeing all the money he paid. He has comeback to his senses and is trying to garner public sympathy so that they give him access to Nigerian crude !!
