Kudos

Southerners don't get it twisted! The govt is not afraid of you cowards protesting. You have been doing so without achieving anything! They are afraid of northerners protesting that's why all this kiti kiti & kata kata. Wike & tinubu knows very well that a protest spearheaded by northerners will result to a change in govt. Period! They don't want hausa khaki boys to chase them away

The police and army have limits. 5million people of the streets and they can't do nada
rotadeco27:

I expected that you guys should be smarter than this. What measures have you put in place to prevent the protest from being hijacked. You are just shouting the protest must hold ,it a peaceful protest and our civil rights blablabla. I pray you won't end up in jail when the hijackers start destroying properties in the name of ur protest. During the protest against Jonathan, Tinubu ,Osibanjo, Buhari etc came to lead it and took responsibility, who is leading this one? I advise you people to wear tear gas protection and anti hot water spray. It will surely turn violent such that the military and police will have a valid reason to take action.
Meanwhile the memo was not leaked ,it was allowed to come to the public so that those who have ears will hear!

I personally think igbo should not join this protest cos they have already concluded its a igbo protest to remove the government. Let sowore and other regions lead the protest.

Igbos should not join the protest. They can support but not join. I'm tired of the igbo want to change government narrative.

And that is why you and your Party calling the Lagosians as ' No Man's Land' will never win this Lagos State, since you don't learn from history.

Honestly speaking the actions of the government may lead to unnecessary tensions. The way the government of the day manages this complex and dicey situation will determine its outcome.

The constitution states that the police should protect those protesting and not intimidate or use force on them. What the police and the military should have done is to standby and protect the arena while the peaceful protest is ongoing, making sure no hoodlum or arsonist takes undue advantage of the protest to pepertrate crime.

The government of the day seems to be preparing for war with its citizens.

How I wish the would-be protesters will be careful. Nigerian Government since 1960 and infact most African Governments have never handled protests very well. The record is against the protesters and the truth is that no amount of complaint to the UN, AU, Commonwealth will bring reprisal to the dead or the injured. Look at what is going on in Israel now and Ukraine. All parents should warn their kids. This thing might be hijacked by hoodlums and the organizers especially from other regions of Nigeria might be accused of trying to bring down the Government despite the fact that Tinubu has led many protests in the past. Those who intend to actualize regime change through violence rather than through the ballot box will make the target for the protest difficult. I'm truly in support of the protest. For me the cost of governance is too high. The last confab report must be implemented. We need a unicameral legislature and the legislature must be on voluntary basis. No salary. Nigeria is sick and we all need a lasting solution to her ailments. We need an overhaul of the entire political system. We can't make progress with this existing system. No obi, Atiku or Tinubu can make meaningful progress with the current system. It's all rigged to favor the few rich at the expense of the people.

The government’s default setting is to use force to counter the protests.

That is a very wrong move. It would be better to let the protesters have a specific point/route of gathering/procession, then properly police those areas/spaces... keep protesters in, keep miscreants out.

By denying space, you are creating potential for multiple flash points which would be more difficult to control.

Also, it gives room for the security agencies to go on thier usual indiscriminate harassment under guise of not allowing protests. This will only lead to further inflammation.

And inviting the Military at this point? Senseless. It just shows the government is ready to kill people and damn the consequences.

For someone who proudly encouraged several protests against military high handedness and dictatorship, and a civilian government who tried to do what he is doing, but in a more organised and humane way, BAT is really going batshit over this looming protest.

When God wants to destroy a very wicked leader he first hardens his heart I don't even think all the nigerian security agents combined together is up to 2m compared to nigeria's over 200m population.

F**k you, you tribal bigot.
All along, the Igbos have been used as sacrificial lambs in this sh!t hole country.

They've been pushing the Igbos at the fore front while they sit back and watch as they are bn killed.

This time around, the Igbos want to sit back while we push you cowards to the fore front.
That is the agenda. Know it and know peace you CORNfused wicked souls.

And yet to they say we're in Democracy!

Their behavior is evidence that the President was not popularly elected. Otherwise, you don't stifle public opinion and protests.

With this high handedness, I doubt the survival of democracy in Nigeria. We're not ready for it.

It wasn't so bad like this during the military.
