The national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students,NANS, says it has pulled out of the planned nationwide protest across the country.

To this end,the body of Nigerian students has directed students across the 36 state and the Federal Capital Territory,FCT,to stay away from the planned action, billed to commence on August 1.

Recall that organisers of the strike have repeatedly cited economic hardship and rising inflation occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government as major reasons for plan to call people to the street in protest.

But speaking Friday,in Abuja, when he led a delegation of executive members of NANS to the Minister of Education,NANS president, Lucky Emonefe, said the Nigerian students were no longer part of the proposed protests.

Emonefe, who was led to the meeting by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Sunday Asefon, promised that no student will participate in the action.

The Nigerian students leader said his decision to pull students away from the action was informed by President Bola Tinubu’s reforms in all sectors aimed at repositioning the country. This was even as he admitted that citizens were indeed facing severe hardship due to the president’s action.

He said:“We want to say that there is hunger in the land and Nigerian students are most affected. We are aware that palliatives were given to governors.

“We are saying that as the government is distributing palliatives, they should remember the student constituencies.

“Though we have challenges but we want to say that we have resolved to be law abiding and not to join any chaos in the society.”

The NANS president, however, appealed to the president to measures in place to reduce the hunger Nigerians are passing through following his policy action.

On his part, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, who admitted that there was hardship in the country, explained that government had been rolling out measures to ameliorate the situation.

He explained that the government had launched an expanded transformative scholarship programme, aimed at supporting the education of 45,000 students across the country, adding that government was commited to expanding access to education as well as deepening the academic and professional growth o

He thanked the students’ body for the wise decision it made and advised it to continue to support government to leave a befitting legacy in education for Nigerians.

Lagos is home to all Nigerians. Lagos is property of nobody.
When Akinola Aguda recommended that capital of Nigeria be relocated to Abuja, too many Yorubas followed to Abuja for lucre.
But too many Igbos remained behind in Lagos, contribute to development of Lagos till today.
Crude oyel proceeds from the Niger delta region also helped to build Lagos. Igbos don't destroy what they built.

Only a handful of Aboki will reduce ronu f00ls talking now to nothing. Ofemanú people are illlivered. I Don't take their ranting to be serious. The only thing they can do to harm or hurt you, is back biting, back stabbing, betrayal and double standard. A typical ofemanú man is a coward!

Now that the NANS had backed out of the strike, seems it’s only the brewery fraudster and his zombie supporters will remain for the strike.

Anyway, they have the right to strike, but I will advise they do it in the East this time around since the last one (#Endsars) was in the West. if they witness one-quarter of the level of destruction experienced in Lagos the last time, they will know what’s up!

This is one of the reasons people don't want to protest.

The country has been hit with the highest inflation in history.

Majority can no longer feed themselves.

They are talking about protest, you decide to make it tribal.

You don't know you are playing to the gallery of politicians. Tribal divide is the tool they use to maintain power.

You are indirectly helping the politicians. Your comment alone is enough to deter many from protesting.

All this anger in your comment now, of what use is it?

The simplest solution to the problem of Nigeria is divide the country. Each tribe will do well on their own.

But politicians will never allow this to happen. Because they get their wealth from our collectiveness.

This is why they plant tribal and religious division amongst us.

One rigion or tribe alone cannot divide this country. It's a dream.

The only option we have is to unite.

Either unite to make the country better or unite to dispossess our oppressors and go our separate ways.

Unfortunately, this too is a dream. Too many ignorant fools (across all tribes) in Nigeria.

The smaller a country, the smaller the number of fools. The larger a country, the larger the number of fools.

Nigeria is a large country, so we have high numbers of foolish people.

High numbers of fools in the Yoruba tribe

High number of fools in the Igbo tribe

High number of fools in the Hausa tribe

Until these fools wake up, the country is doomed.

Unfortunately, fools will always be fools.
