This is indeed a proactive step by the Federal Government to address the rising cost of living. Selling 50kg rice at N40,000 is a commendable move that will undoubtedly provide relief to many households struggling with food inflation.

It's essential to recognize that the FG is taking tangible actions to cushion the effects of economic challenges faced by Nigerians. This initiative can help stabilize the market and ensure that essential commodities remain accessible to the average citizen.

Let’s also acknowledge the effort to manage resources effectively. If this plan is executed well, it could set a precedent for future interventions aimed at alleviating poverty and ensuring food security across the nation.

Kudos to the administration for this timely intervention!
Leave all this yeye talks guy, we are protesting .

This is a step in the right direction! When FG takes initiative like this, it shows they are listening to the needs of the people.

Affordable rice is a big deal, especially with all the rising costs lately. If we can get staple foods at reasonable prices, it will ease the burden on many households. Let’s hope this becomes a regular thing!

Yes he closed the borders and few years later, the local rice has become ten-fold costlier.

Was that due to him or insecurity-cum-inflation?

Now subsidy removal.

I can't believe you lots that were clamoring for border closure are now yelling for the same borders to be open because of rice. Nigerians are an emotional lot.

I am highly disappointed at your ignorance and naivety. So after this sales, will the bag of rice still remain 40kg or will people just go back to buying it at the rate it was before FG tried to bribe them.

Can you see that this is nothing other than trying to play the people, the same thing Osibanjo did with the trader money?

Nigerians are the most gullible people I have ever come across.

Look at one of the FG shill trying to pull a fast one. What affordable rice are you talking about, this is nothing but a bribe, it does not change the price of rice in the market.

APC and bribe wasn't it the same Osibanjo did with trader money?

Another deceit, they should eat the rice. Rice is not the problem, reduce fuel price to 200, let dollars be 400, reduce custom duties, open the borders, reduce school fees, give good health care for free, the list is endless. THE PROTEST MUST HOLD

The Nigerian government is not telling the whole truth.
Somebody is paying the difference in price and that is no other person but the government. That means government is subsidising the price for you to buy it at 40k.
Government is paying this subsidy with borrowed money and this will worsen Nigerian debt and the naira will fall or devalued further.
This can be done temporarily to douse the planned protest. It will bring a bugger problem in the nearest future.
