The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has condemned a young woman for exploiting her mentally unstable mother for personal gain in a viral video.

The video, which has sparked outrage online over the weekend, shows the young woman filming and engaging with her mother, who appears visibly unwell and unkempt.

The young lady, who is reported to be a content creator and who did not give her name in the video, introduced a mentally unstable woman as her mother.

She said her mother became mentally ill after her father’s death, adding that her mum initially was taking care of herself and her other siblings but things began to deteriorate with her mental state.

The young lady added that her mum left their home and has been residing on the streets.

She, however, stated that she visits her from time to time with food items and money.

We urgently request information about the mother's identity and condition to ensure proper care and protection. A reward is offered for prompt location assistance.

Appropriate actions must be taken to address this situation. We call on everyone to respect the dignity and humanity of those facing mental health issues and report similar instances immediately.

Let's work together to prevent exploitation and support those who need it most.".

Dear minister, what the girl allegedly did is wrong. Your offer to locate and assist the mentally-ill woman is good.

But why doesn't the government act until something gets out of hands? There are old and young mentally-ill ladies almost everywhere in Nigeria. Is this minister waiting for those ladies to be filmed as contents before her office will care for those women? Is the ministry beginning to act like some Nigerian celebrities that will ignore homeless children in their streets but offer to help any homeless child that goes viral on social media?

You are not getting the point, the lady needed money and how else would she have gotten that without making the video? She has already received enough donation to take her to appropriate place

The lady needed money to take care of her mother and how else would she get that? when these days everyone is looking for evidence before they render help.

She didn’t do anything wrong. If she didn’t do the video, the help she got wouldn’t have come.

If she's keeping or using the money for herself and not to take care of her mother, then I would agree with the Women Affairs Minister. But if she's using it for its intended purpose (for her mother's treatment and care), then she's doing right by the woman and doesn't deserve any backlash.

People should be very careful, people are now committing crime in name of content creation. That mad woman isn’t the girls mother.
