It's a somewhat controversial strike action by the time FG allows such precedent and other professionals do same across board then government decides to sanction such group(s).

Just imagine that criminals kidnap a police officer and the whole police officers force go on strike. How does that help their case?

NARD could have adopted a more sensible and matured approach to drawing attention to the unfortunate situation of their member instead of going on a nationwide strike. Is it that they don't have elders in the profession to guide them ni?

Criminals kidnap their member in Plateau state and while security agencies are on it, they are demanding that patients need to die across the country.

When she is now freed, will they bring back the dead or do they now want the blood and curses of the dead to be upon her head and that of her generations ni?
Shame shouldnt let u give this example
Kidnapping a police officer is the highest form of security failure.

Are you for real? Do you think it's about getting their member out or to prevail on the government to do something about the mass kidnappings happening across the country on daily basis?

Where else in the world have you heard people being kidnap in their hundreds in this world? Like 100 people being kidnapped at once then next week you hear 300, 250, 50, 10, 20.

Isn't this a shameful thing? Ain't you ashamed to be defending nonsense?

Haba! A nursing mother has been in captivity for over 8 MONTHS!!! I feel it took too long for the doctors to even go on strike, they should have gone a long time ago.
Imagine the response from the Ministry of Health, quite shameful. In the face of the massive emigration of doctors, this won't encourage anyone to stay. Health practioners are valued and payed well outside of the country where they don't have to worry about being kidnapped while they are at work.
These doctors had earlier protested nationwide in their facilities to draw government attention to this situation and so far notting has been done and now that they have gone on waring strike, they are responding with a threat.
I believe if it was the relative of the Minister that was kidnapped, it would not have taken this long, something would have been done within a matter of days not to talk of over 8 good months.

Interesting, what would you have suggested they do? Wait another 4months to make 12 months in captivity? Please, let the doctors learn from you. I believe you have a great insight for a way forward.

Stike after 8 months in captivity is a tad too late for me. I can't even imagine being in captivity for days not to talk about 8 months.

And it is the masses that will suffer it.

The doctors can be runming their private hospitals which may be expensive for most Nigerians. The politicians and higher class individuals in the country will also patronise the private hospitals.

This policy is likely not gonna work

Good. The FG is doing well.

You see your life. It's the poor people like you who will suffer it because the FG can't win a war against the doctors. They can be on strike for 1 year and before you know 90% of them don japa.

So because they want to practise, they shouldn't address their financial responsibilities while idiots with pea brains continue living large on people's commonwealth? FYI, a single doctor is by far more important to humanity than the whole of those illiterates parading themselves as lawmakers.

Annoyingly, the same set of donkeys are preparing to enact laws preventing doctors from travelling to where their services are valued. Why should a medical be battling to feed while some semi illiterates get paid several millions a month for going to sleep in the hallow chambers?

Don't mind the boy.

Honestly this strike things are becoming irritating. Why must the first thing they think of as a union is to go on strike? Many of them have their own private ventures with terrible working condition for their staff. Do they strike at every disagreement?
I feel the national assembly should save the nation from all these unions always going on strike but still get paid eventually.

So that you would be slave to the government that doesn't care about your security?

The strike of a thing is primitive and uncalled for. The government was not directly affected. Only the less privilege suffer for it.
Funny enough, no matter the strike, hospital is still accessible to high profile people with a special treatment from Dr end.
Only the poor will suffer for it without hope to visit our various private hospital due to financial status.
Imagine police go on strike or other law enforcement agency. What will be our hope that day.
One day will be One day.
We'll all fight in one voice without any tone of bias
Imagine if it's just one SR without any influence of key person, are we going to strike?

We prefer the doctors get paid and Tinubu is no longer president

A female medical doctor Mrs Ganiyat, a Yoruba like the president was kidnapped for since january not minding she might be abused, raped, or even killed

Tinubu should go. Any president that can’t deal with insecurity, economics and the welfare of Nigerians should just go

That's what U get when U run a deficient structure like the Nigerian system.
Unions will continue to hold the govt to ransom.

Unions could be made paralysed and redundant within few months but the FG first must restructure the prese t system....and that's where the problem lies.
Unions are exploiting the loophole in the present system and that's where the problem lies.

Are you aware the strike was called because one of the doctors was kidnapped from the staff quarters of a federal government medical centre in Kaduna and for more than six months, the federal government hadn't done anything to rescue her and her husband's nephew whose eyes terrorists have removed? What if you or your sister were in that situation? That while working at a federal government facility, you were kidnapped and those who ought to do something to rescue you continued life as normal?
