Critics and human rights organisations have expressed their revulsion at the repressive behaviour of the government, saying the development is deeply disturbing.
The President Bola Tinubu-led administration is pushing for a death penalty for ten #EndBadGovernance protesters.

The government accused the protesters of treason, a capital offence punishable by death.

This was contained in a Court document with file number FHC/ABJ/CR/454/2024, indicating the Tinubu regime is seeking death penalty for the protesters.

The arrested protesters include:

Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye
Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi
Suleiman Yakubu
Opaluwa Eleojo Simon
Angel Love Innocent
Buhari Lawal
Mosiu Sadiq
Bashir Bello
Nuradeen Khamis
Abdulsalam Zubairu.

Since the end of the nationwide protests against widespread hardship and insecurity in the country last month, a crackdown on those who participated in the public demonstration by security agencies has been the order of the day.

Hundreds of people have been arrested, including minors, for their alleged involvement in the protest. Many of the arrested persons are being detained without any arraignment.

This guy actually thinks that he has the political gravitas to cage the whole angry and hungry Nigerians for as long as he wants? Dude is overestimating his capabilities. The daily worshipping that happens at his gate in Bourdillion seem to be fooling him. Actions like this will actually stiffen resolves to fight amongst the poor not frighten them, since it's now more like a zero sum game

In reality my brother he does. I know because if by now we are still discussing this on NL instead of him escaping through a tunnel to Benin Republic, and if by now some people are still supporting him, and if by now even if he gives some idiots N5k they will protest against these protesters being tried for treason, my brother forget it. Tinubu has not just caged, but he has also pocketed the whole Nigeria

Nigeria is a victim of her tribal make up. He's piling on because he knows that no matter how terrible his policies and governance style are, there will always be millions of ethnic henchmen and religious fanatics churning out different amorphous reasons as to why he is the next best thing after pizza.

If he is the president of Odua, they would have sacked him ever since. They won'ttolerate this level of suffering for any reason. But the Nigerian presidency has become a position for ethnic champions to display their skills in recent times and that has proven to be some sort of political masterstroke, albeit, for the time being
