IfnobeGod20:Keep deceiving yourself and talking theory as if police did not seek permission to detain them for up to a month to do through investigation. Don't just talk it online, go to court or police detention where he is to fight for his freedom and remember to buy bread along for them. When next there is a call for protest, lead segment of the protest till you are arrested by the police, then when you get there; try to go and prove you know law so that practical reform can start from you. Until you yourself gets to police detention, you can't see "saner Clime". You will find "saner Clime" in the police detention when you get there, I think it leaves in that environment. By the time police removes your clothes, your shoe, collects your phone and throw handcuff into your hands even despite you are in detention, you will begin to see relative of "saner Clime" you are looking for. My advice for sensible ones is to stay off crime and violent protests that can shorten your life span, gets you deformed for life or even lead to death or police net. If you are soaking gaari in your room with rest of mind, is better off than taking watery beans in police detention. House and house-arrest in police net are not the same. Be wise 1 Like 1 Share |

mapet:Please stop dragging us back in circles simply because you are not able to keep up. First, the charge sheet does not state that he did not apply for the information. To apply is to request information from any of the governmental agencies through any of their many communication channels. Second, if he did apply, then the FOIA is clear on who can be faulted. So, stop flailing about arrogantly in ignorance pretending that justification can be obtained that way. |

mapet:You have never in fact read your FOIA or considered how whistleblowers obtain information from those who work inside government agencies, have you? |

IfnobeGod20:A good number of Nigerians out there, including those abroad, don't know their Constitution, let alone their laws. The bulk of their civic education comes from the many lies they have been fed by their ignorant and equally arrogant elected officials who they construe as masters over their existence. |

sreamsense:This your gibberish is tantamount to words of a fearful man that doesn't know the difference between right and left and lost his constitutional right. No wonder the country is tending towards banana Republic nation where things are done in opposite direction to the regular ways. You no what, I don't blame you, I only blame your civilisation and exposure. I am cog sure in your life you've not stepped out of your enclave, so it will be a mirage if simple thing that the constitution permits are been canvassed to you. Protest is a constitution matter that every citizen is entitle to and can be done anywhere at anytime. That some people turn the protest to violence, it is the duty of the police to arrest such individuals and take them to court to face the law and not police detaining them for 28 days. That aside, no court in Nigeria or the world at large will give you or police an order to detain a person for 28 days when the case does not border on terrorism. Now, shove your limited knowledge to your bowel because it is not constitutionally tenable and does not flow with any international best practice in a democratic environment. |

Kobojunkieee:Truly speaking many of them don't know their right and they see those in government as the alpha and the omega that cannot be questioned. I read a comment of one sreamsense and I knew this your statement was true. Ironically, many of them go to school but didn't allow school to pass through them and at it again no self development at all. They follow whatever is fed to them by their politician. 1 Like |

Kobojunkieee: I will advise you to stop struggling to sound intelligent, it is not your forte.... Obviously your struggle at comprehension is so glaring as daylight. You cannot interpret the FOIA you quoted neither can you even situate the definition of Whistleblower in the context of the conversation. You don't even understand the meaning of Whistleblowing/Whistleblower; do you whistle-blow a normal government process (case in point an application by the office of the SGF for funds) or you whistle-blow a crime? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Investigative Journalist, PIDOM Charged With Promoting #EndBadGovernance Protest by mapet: 9:05pm On Sep 03 |
Kobojunkieee: See twisted logic! I really overrated your basic comprehension capability... 1. The charge sheet does not state that he did not apply for the information? So did he apply? because if he did and he was given, why arrest him and bring him to court? 2. To apply is to request information from any of the governmental agencies through any of their many communication channels.- let's assume this nonsense you wrote here were to be true, where is the application Brutus made? 3. Second, if he did apply, then the FOIA is clear on who can be faulted- So you're not even sure if he applied or not? then on what basis will your argument make sense? Even in your misinterpretation of FOIA, he cannot even publish what is not given to him by the Agency. Oga, you are simply Olodo. You don't have shishi comprehension capacity. 1 Like 1 Share |

IfnobeGod20: Going by your twisted logic... ...that is why is PIDO is arrested.... so that he can name those "working in those offices..." who gave him confidential information |
Re: Investigative Journalist, PIDOM Charged With Promoting #EndBadGovernance Protest by mapet: 9:15pm On Sep 03 |
IfnobeGod20: 1. Investigative journalist is not restricted in getting information, even government classified? dey play. Even those that tried it in the US and Europe are cooling their heels in prison. 2. If you call yourself an investigative journalist, you UNCOVER and REPORT CRIMES, you don't report CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. It is for a reason people wait till those information are DECLASSIFIED before the publish it. It is a crime against the State to release classified information into public domain. So let me give your olodo brain an assignment. If an "Investigative Journalist" got information about Nigeria's weapons development program... should he release it to public where our enemies domestic and foreign will have access to it? claiming he's doing investigative journalism? You lot cannot even define investigative journalism.... there is dictionary.com na! use it 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Investigative Journalist, PIDOM Charged With Promoting #EndBadGovernance Protest by IfnobeGod20: 7:01am On Sep 04 |
mapet:See logic of my fellow Nigerian. So he will be the one to tell them who gave him the information or they will go and put their house in order, so that sensitive information won't be able to leak next time. Mr. Man, he is not at liberty to reveal his source of information as an investigative journalist, that is why many at times in their article you read from anonymous this or that. The identity of their informant must be protected by law. Except you wish to state that he got the information at gun point but if not the law shields him to protect his informant identity as an investigative journalist. |
Re: Investigative Journalist, PIDOM Charged With Promoting #EndBadGovernance Protest by IfnobeGod20: 7:17am On Sep 04 |
mapet:Mr. Man, when you say an information is confidential or classified, should such information not be classified. If such information is now found at the public domain, please what is the fault of those that has it outside the office that that information suppose to be classified and kept till it is declassified? Don't you think those holding on to the information in those offices should be held responsible for leaking such classified information to the public rather than those in possession of the information? You can only be held responsible by the oath of secrecy if information at your disposal that suppose to be classified is seen in the public domain. That it leaks out, those in that office should be the first target of arrest for releasing information at their disposal to the public without express permission to do so. But arresting a person authorised by law and doing his professional job as an investigative journalist is out of place because he is a third party to such information. I won't attack you because I discovered you have a limited knowledge of what we are discussing here, so I won't go down low to your level by throwing around abuse as you do to your comment here. Next time I will report you for breaching Nairaland rule. Comment and don't throw around abuse. Your number two point is laughable. Is it only crime that an investigative journalist should report? Please where did you get that information from? Even a secret service doesn't dwell on information on security alone. |
