Who Else Is Facing This Issue by Lexzokomo: 10:09pm On Sep 07 |
I am always prompted to verify if I am human anytime I want to login to nairaland, I don't know if it is browser or general issue, I use opera browser and I don't see myself switching to some other browsers anytime soon because I am use to it, please help out if you have the solution to this problem, attached is a screenshot of the web page giving me errors while trying to login. I don't know if this is the right section to post this, I tried posting it in some other sections but my post was declined that's why the post is here thanks

I think it is a security mechanism that applies to every browser. 1 Like |

Adewale1603:yeah I think Chrome works fine too, I just like the sleekness of opera browser, I have changed to my phone browser though which is not giving me issues but I still prefer opera because of its interface |

I believe it is a security feature which is meant to prevent bots from stealing personal data. Lexzokomo: |

NL uses a CDN called Cloudflare. The purpose is faster access from different parts of the world, and enhanced site security. Now your network connection may be under a watchlist, unknown status, or blacklisted for bad practices. Reasons why this happens - * Browsing history from that network. Most of our telecoms networks in Nigeria are under watchlist because of activities of yahoo boys. * Personal browsing history. Sites (especially Google) use your browsing/search history to profile you. If you're not regularly searching for human things like disease symptoms or shopping for goods on your IP address, you'll get more of such prompts than usual. * Unstable connection. This can make your browser send too many requests, incomplete requests, or abruptly end requests - kind of things a hacker would do deliberately. This will also make your verification fail. * Using a VPN. Most (unpopular/free/personal) VPNs will have unknown status, or have been used for deceptive activities by many people, so sites tend to check out who is actually trying to connect. Cloudflare can detect these anomalies and request for additional verification from you - same way Google asks you sometimes. * Website updates. Sometimes sites may update their software (e.g. wordpress) which results to compatibility issues with the CDN. Normally Cloudflare will tell you your connection is fine but the site is unreachable. Solution - the only thing you can do is to ensure your connection is stable, clear your browser cache, and don't use a VPN. |

Re: Who Else Is Facing This Issue by Minjim: 9:38pm On Sep 08 |
I only experience it with Opera and whenever I use a VPN. It happens with Opera because of their 50mb free browsing |
