Their most prominent political mantra to excuse idiots in power is to utter "power comes from God"! And they say that with an air of finality that has all sorts of cultural stamps all over. How many times have you heard that as the most revered defence line to support brutal despots? It was used for babangida, for abacha, for buhari, etc. Even if the dictator eliminates a whole local government as obasanjo tried to do in Odi and Zaki biam, there will be an ethnic henchman somewhere, energetically trying to remind you of the need to accept the genocide because according to him "power comes from god"! Crazy cultures.

That's the archaic reasoning affecting the country negatively.
It's very unfortunate.

Maybe the attitude of these people in power reflects some sort of throwbacks to the indigenous cultures from where they come from. It is becoming obvious that those who have been ruled for ages by autocratic and brutal emirs and obas, seem to see governance as a place where an emperor dictates and the people follows, without necessarily worrying about the different layers of pangs of poverty tinibulating the masses. They can't do without being brutal too, since thats all they know about.

That is the only conceivable reason left to explain what is going on. Most prehistoric Obas and Emirs in some areas that formed present day Nigeria, were brutal despots who were projected as not just rulers, but as diviners too. Semi gods. They were the executive, the judiciary and the legislature in one body. The made laws and their brood of serfs bowed to say yes. Some even rolled in the mud to greet them. They had little regards for the poor tucked away in forgotte remote villages.

That is where this problem started. Because it is now obvious that the products of these societies lack empathy when they eventually find themselves government. They see themselves as some sort of "national Obas and Sultans", and because they are used to people from their ethnic groups finding it it hard to criticise them as was the case during the precolonial era, these leaders also expect the rest of us, including those that never had "almighty" obas and emirs, to also swallow their bullshit, line, hook and sinker.

Believe me, it's cultural..

What is wrong with this Tinubu now? Seems he has vow and hell-bent to totally destroy this country. Let God stir the spirit of Nigeria to resist him...

So the multiple taxes that will be removed dey vex Atiku?
The poor people pay too many taxes as opposed to what rich people like Atiku pay.
Atiku is afraid to pay tax.He has been milking Nigeria for decades without paying the appropriate taxes.
The hen has come home to roost. cheesy
Tinubu is removing a lot of taxes on the poor.
Atiku does not want to pay tax after fleecing Nigeria for decades.
He should be put on the watchlist of tax evaders.

This would have made sense assuming the other culture without obas and Emirs were not staying at home based on the order of one small boy from Finland.
The bullshit you swallow from that fool is more smelly than dung belive me.

Moreover, with the level of development in the region without Obas where they are trooping to the streets to celebrate street light in 2024, I think they need to learn a lot about governance from the people who traditionally had obas.

The emperor in your land is one small boy from Finland. Let your father say no to him and go to market on Monday first before you claim some other region have autocratic tendencies. Mumu

Re: The Increase In VAT Is Set To Become The Blazing Inferno- Atiku by kppo(m): 4:51pm On Sep 08
Hmmm. I think this topic is very true. With the way everything is increasing in the country, it seems as if we are in the burning fiery furnace like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Even if the heat of the economic fire is heated up seven times greater, the key is to have the "fourth man" with you in the fire. That is, DIVINE PRESENCE. If God is with you, the fire won't burn you. By the time things are finally better in Nigeria, there won't even be the smell of the smoke of the hot economy. So, my take away is that "no matter how hot (or hard) things get in Nigeria, God is with me in this fire. And I won't be burnt. I won't even smell of smoke." There will be no sign of the hardship that others faced. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Helinues supports Apc without his brain. But at least he is paid for it. If not no sane human being will see that when there was subsidy things were tough and now without subsidy things are tougher but he still has to defend Apc for his peanuts as usual.

I already said the government should embrace massive cut in the cost of governance. How do you run this expensive, wasteful and flamboyant government and then expect the masses to bear the brunt without revolt.

It's not even a Gen Z thing., it's common sense. Kenya isn't a template for Nigeria.

The government needs to demonstrate prudence to be able to secure the buy-in of the masses. I'm afraid, that confidence is missing in this admiration.

If you have the ears of those in the authority, tell them there's always an elastic limit and a tipping point.

You can't force subsidy removal and currency devaluation simultaneously on the masses and then thought of increasing taxes again while everyone groan in wants.

Again, go out and feel the purse of the people
