The Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, has stated that the current economic challenges faced by Nigerians were inherited from the Buhari administration. He made this assertion during a sensitisation event on federal government intervention programmes organised by the Office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation, held in Minna, Niger State.

Represented by the Hadinin Minna, Alhaji Maikudi Achaza, the emir commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to address the issues stemming from past corruption. He emphasised that many citizens remain unaware of the Tinubu administration’s initiatives due to insufficient communication from government spokespersons, particularly in local languages.

On the other hand, former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar has expressed concern over the escalating hardships faced by Nigerians, urging the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government to take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The emir said, “A significant amount of funds was misappropriated by previous administrations, and the current government is working to recover them.

Since the removal of fuel subsidies, various measures have been implemented to alleviate the impact on citizens. It is crucial for the government to communicate its policies and programmes effectively, using local languages.”

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, represented by Asabe Sule Garba, Zonal Coordinator of the Federal Information Resource Centre in Minna, stated that the event is aimed to raise awareness about the federal government’s efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. He highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to accountability and transparency and called for citizens’ support.

Meanwhile, the ex-military leader criticised the distribution of palliatives, saying they were not a solution to the rising cost of living. He emphasised that leaders have failed to connect with ordinary citizens and understand their struggles, noting that life is becoming increasingly difficult for many.

Abdulsalami made these remarks at his Hilltop Residence during a courtesy visit from officials of the Campaign for Democracy and Human Rights, a Minna-based civil society organisation.

The organisation urged him to appeal to the Tinubu-led administration to address the current economic challenges in the country.

“The hardship in the country is spiraling out of control,” Abdulsalami lamented. “Every citizen is crying, and the situation worsens daily. Many can no longer afford three square meals due to high transportation costs, increased fuel prices, rising school fees and a lack of financial resources.”

He reassured on his commitment as a former leader to encourage federal, state and local governments to address these pressing challenges swiftly.

Abdulsalami revealed that a forum he participated in had proposed solutions to the federal government, arguing that palliative measures are inadequate. “Instead, the government should buy food and sell it at reduced prices to help citizens afford essential items,” he suggested.

On the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protests planned for October 1, 2024, General Abdulsalami urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and reminded the government not to take citizens for granted.

Earlier, Abdullahi Jabi, chairman of the civil society organisation, called for Abdulsalami’s intervention in implementing programmes aimed at mobilising Nigerians for active participation in governance.

Yes but he undeniably amplified the hardship when in a strong position to reduce it. All through planting season, he was busy with politicking and propaganda. Hope he doesnt blame excess rain for poor harvest also. There was excess rain under Buhari and GEJ yet they didnt leave the agric ministry to autopilot ministers.
There was locust attack from east africa under buhari, most of us didnt know of it because someone did his job. Tinubu only responded to insecurity in Zamfara and Kaduna after planting season elasped. I wonder what the game plan is.

"The Buhari that came to power roughly eight years ago was packaged as someone who had it in him to exercise the self-restraints necessary to administer a dysfunctional country like Nigeria. For a benighted nation, the thought of having a president with integrity and self-discipline was alluring. No thanks to Buhari and his legendary incompetence, we now know better.

Meanwhile, the same people who packaged his myth are back in the market. Now they are promising that 2023 will bring “renewed hope.” We have moved from the taglines of ‘integrity’ and ‘anti-corruption’ to “builder of city” and “builder of men.”

That is how they will tell you that another messiah is on the way until somewhere down the line when the scam will unravel, first, through the failures of such leader; and second, through the person’s garrulous admission that none of what they told you was ever true.

Whao! Guess this emir must be one of those northern leaders or elites who hailed Buhari on back then?

Tinubu made hardship unbearable for Nigerians

No be juju be that ?
From the time of Abraham Isaac and Jacob, God has been using hardship to reset brains. The main reason of isreal forgetting God's covenant is too much food plus enjoyment and the main reminder of the covenant is hunger and hardship. One by one all the emirates existing because of free oyel money will begin to lead themselves to political salvation.

Before we get to the amplified, should we remind ourselves that Tinubu alone made Buhari president four years after saying he was expired as CPC candidate with Pastor Tunde Bakare his running mate?
Did Tinubu not reinforce the Buhari failure in 2019 with Yoruba votes, to claim his Yorubalokan turn for ebilokan last year?

Tinubu's incompetence in governance that he hid in Lagos for 25 years plus by blaming successive presidents, is very clear to see at the federal level now. Hopefully we will work to enlighten every Nigerian about the difference between politicking and governance, even though they are related. Otherwise we are in for the longest haul of suufering and gnashing of ebiNpawa teeth.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

Same blame game continue does it mean APC don't get tired of blaming themselves. Tinubu was asked what would you do different he said, I will continue from were buhari stopped. You can imagine nnpc buying fuel from dangote refinery store it in dangote refinery and let other marketers buy from them. What sort of criminality is that?
