Which "free food" are the children getting?

How many children are in d school?

Which extra curricular activities?

What makes think that if any is done at all, it's part of d school fees?

How much is d rent of d school building?
That guy is a fool...I suspect his family runs a school business and that how they treat dia teachers...

Because no sane human being should be comfortable with this nonsense...

Even as a parent, I'll be worried if the teachers teaching my children aren't well compensated knowing the amount of fees I pay per term.

This is very wrong.
Only school owners and Business owners will support this nonsense

How is your ward doing academically?
Hope you're paying attention to their "θ" theta sound pronunciation?
I don't see a 35k teacher having the know-how to teach a student to pronounce "through" as "θru".
It will be "true" instead.
How's their arithmetic?

Knowing this, you'll have to do your personal best to also tutor your ward during the weekend.
It'll help them brush up for muscle memory early.
The lad is sound academically tho, if not I would have looked for a public school and flinged him there.

and so?! i dont get where the problem is.
if someone offers you a job, if you dont want it, you say no and jejely walk the fukc out... but dont pretend that because children pay 200k for school fees, you can dictate how much you deserve as a teacher in that school. thats what the school is offering, take it or leave it! so you mean that if they were schooling for free, then you would also work for free?!

stop looking at other people's finances... in order to try to lift yourself up, as you dont know what they spend that money on:
- are you paying the rent for the building?
- are you paying the electricity/equipment used in that school?
- are you paying for the free food that these kids possibly get?
- are you paying for all the extracurricular outings and activities that these children learn?
- are you paying the salary of all the other staff and owners of that school?

And by the way, what makes her think that people should believe that she’s a good teacher?

Her face looks like one who plan would be to take over the house from the madam.

And there will be so many other applicants queuing up for the job.
Reason for the exploitation.

No exploitation here. She only what she deserves. If she was an experienced teacher she would have been poached and the offer would be much more than that.

Expertise is the name of the game. What value was she bringing to the table. We can only judge this matter objectively if we have access to her profile and what role she was expected to play in the overall scheme of things.

Running a school or indeed a business in Nigeria is no easy feat. It's all about value. Pls note that there are drivers earning 50k but today we recruited a driver who insisted on 350k and got the offer.

Meanwhile the original agreed offer from Management was 200k.

Value, Value and Value.

After all said and done.......It's always about Value or the perception of value.

That teacher is a greedy fellow. The students pays 294k for a term running for 4 months with the holidays. And the teacher is paid for four months in that #294k which is ₦55k x4= 220k. #294-₦220=₦74. That school is very fair to their teachers.
The teacher expected the school to pay her all the money the students paid.
The teacher comes here to rant as if the students pays #294k every month and the school pays her ₦55k. Anyway is her choice to look for elsewhere for better job than stay there and be complaining.

If we are to look at it logically, what the school pays to each teacher is #150,000 per term. A term consist of three months. And it is invariably the per unit school fees of a pupil. But then it is private school and their motive is to maximize profit while minimizing expenses.

In this life nobody owes you sh!t.
If the offer isn't good enough for you, simply decline and move your saggy butt tf out.
Go and start your own school/business and employ staff you will pay 200k and above if e easy.

This is not entitlement mentality its just not right, we have a weak labour law in this country that's why so many workers are been underpaid even in better establishments, imagine hiring a graduate teacher and you want to be paying him/her 55k is that not slavery regardless of how much the students are paying for school fees

At times, if we're not in the situation of heading an institute we won't understand, many see how money comes in but didn't know how it goes out, if a student is paying such amount, the total money is not meant for school fees, books, stationeries, activities etc may be included, when you take out this, you now face other expenses like govt taxes, other non teaching staffs salary, maintenance, lighting, fuelling, etc putting this together you will see that it's not just easy to survive in this country, nowadays, many schools are even folding up because they can't survive the situation.....

Teaching jobs in Nigeria are nothing but slavery. Even if the students are paying up to 1m, you salary might not be up to 150k.

Teaching jobs are jobs you do while applying for something much better so that you won't be idle. It cannot pay your bills.
All teachers in Nigeria should quit.

Education is not valued here. So All should quit teaching.

Below is an example of a school worth fees of 30k

100 students pay 30k = 3,000,000
10 teachers gets 70k = 700,000

10 students per Teacher (very realistic, don't argue)

A term is usually 3 months...School fees is paid once...Total monthly salary of teachers would be 700,000 x 3 months..that gives us = 2,100,000

What stops schools from applying this.

Then imagine a school of 290k as fees paying cheap 55k for labour ...like seriously...THIS IS WRONG!

it just pure wickedness...most School owners and Business owners in Nigeria are cruel...SIMPLE... They only want to use you dry.

The school owners must pay for security, water, tax, and electricity, as well as funding the school building and its maintenance. Yet you think operating a school business is easy. The teacher can open evening lessons to generate extra income.

School of 294k...

ELECTRICITY;
Give and take , they would spend PATA PATA 700-800k on NEPA bill monthly.
I've worked in a hotel , constant light...we were paying NEPA 500k every month.

I don't see how a school that doesn't operate at night should pay higher self.

SECURITY;
A school that is willing to pay it teachers 55k...how much do you think that smelling school will pay security workers...

They would not even spend more than 35k each .. probably just 3 guards.

TAX;
This is Nigeria, Many businesses and people evade tax...take it or leave it...they are either paying little or nothing.

WATER;
Don't be Stupid , even on my street , one man just opened like a tank for free water for people to fetch and do whatever they like...he's not even a wealthy man...just every day guy...what I'm saying is WATER is no big deal... How much water the children wan consume.

FUNDING & MAINTENANCE;
Listen and listen good... A beautiful and good looking school without it teachers giving dia best is nothing... Maintenance should go to the welfare of teachers for christ sake... Without them, the school is rubbish.
