Re: 18-Year-Old Driver Collided With A Car On Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, 3 Dead by yommyuk: 8:46am On Sep 24, 2024 |
Throwback: The police should not have let the drivers go.
They are suspect to a manslaughter case and have every right to be arrested at the crime scene and then taken to a hospital if they require medical care.
Then begin investigations to determine who is at fault between both drivers while both are entitled to administrative bail.
If investigations already identify who is at fault before administrative bail is effected, then charge the culprit to court immediately.
Exactly!
Nigerians don't know how to be professional.
And I am not even referring to the police alone. God bless u. V true. Nigerian police and professionalism are at odds with each other. Shame really. |

lexy2014:
You are yet to answer my questions...
did the drivers commit any traffic offence? I'm not arguing about them committing a traffic offence or not because I don't even know the situation surrounding the accident yet all I was pointing out is their first line of action which was and is still wrong. People laying unconscious, other survivors awakening to the event before them and the first thing is to wear them handcuffs? Come on now let's say the truth. |

They did nothing right! The You say "Come on now let's say the truth" but the same you is not willing to answer the simple question I asked you: did the drivers commit any traffic offence? Which truth are now saying should be said? You "don't even know the situation surrounding the accident" but you know the state of those who were involved in the accident, the action the police took and the action they didn't take. Very interesting |

Tapout: What if the Policemen were actually chasing them, why arrest the two drivers at an accident scene?? Just saying sha, but the story surely does not add up. What are you saying There were people at the scene even before the police arrived , if the police were chasing them wouldn't they have known |

Yes, but in the scheme of things saving lives goes beyond making arrests and we both know that the arrest was majorly for extortion Lives that had already been lost or lives in danger |

Mathewrichard99: You have forgotten to mention the policemen eyeing the phones and wallets of the presumed dead guys. That's the nature of most Nigeria Police though to be sincere, we still have some few decent policemen among this lots.
I can't just forget the day I rescued or helped a one chance victim thrown down from a bus under Ijesha bridge, close to Lords Chosen by the criminals. I stopped to help out and not too long I stopped, another car too pulled to a stop and the driver claimed he was a policeman. That gives me moral support to even help the guy cos of the presence of the policeman. He helped me to carry the guy to my car which is bigger than his so that the victim can spread easily. He was bleeding seriously cos he was also shot, I never knew he was even shot until I got to Luth at Idi Araba when doctor quickly rushed him from my car straight to ICU.... Immediately I got to LUTH.....I just jumped down from my car amd started shouting help help he's dying, he's dying, one chance one chance.....thank God I met young doctors that day doing their whatever, it was when things were was getting so complicated that they went and call a senior doctor. No money was asked or collected from me until I was able to get the victim's brother and he came that night. The victim was able to tell us his name and also gave his brother's number at Okota palace. That police ran away with the victim's phone that night. He lied that I should be going and that he would follow me. He never did. I went to police station at Okota to collect Police report and then he was still with me went to St Raphael hospital, he was turned down but I insisted first aid to be given.....went to Isolo general hospital but wasn't accepted cos of too much blood lost and referred to Lasuth.....Lasuth disappointed me big time and referred me to Luth where I met mercy on this guy.All this while, the police man had ran, disappeared with the guys phone. Though, when I think about it sometime, it's possible he might have missed his way and couldn't follow up with me or didn't have enough fuel again cos that period, there was wide spread fuel scarcity.....this is about 2004 or 2005. I must tell you guys that whenever I remember my movement that night, from 10: 30 PM till 4:40 AM the next day. Moving from one hospital to another until finally LUTH, I keep asking myself that how about if the guy had died. These are questions I asked myself after everything, asked myself that what gave me the liver, the boldness. I could remember the guy calling me severally from the back of my car and begged that I shouldn't allow him to die. His white shirt had turned to red with a little dots of white. I cried as I was promising him that he would never die. Saying it all over again and again and crying and driving at the same time. Then, nothing like tribal hatred like now. The guy is Ibo and am Yoruba but we became friends closer than family or blood brothers at that moment. I am so glad that I could save somebody's life then..I believe up till today, that God counted that singular action of mine as a guarantee of his absolute love and forgiveness to any sin or mistake I had ever committed or would ever commit. Thanks Everyone, Am getting emotional all over again....
