He can claim he's trying to help Nigeria (a lie).
It can be for any reason - burn out, crime he knows may catch up with him, moment of depression, loans owed, other pressures, etc.
I can assure you of one thing - almost all relocate because something is "chasing" them
It seems he was a practicing one.

Watch the thread grow to 20 pages as usual with people generalizing, analyzing and over analyzing USA residents, their lifestyle, their income and making unnecessary comparisons et al.

What’s newsworthy in someone going home to settle in their own country? I guess since he announced his return on the internet, people have no choice but to analyze his decision.

I wish him happiness and success in his ventures

I know one hospital must have promised you CMD to return. That's a bad choice.
Boss you didn't watch the video
He is not working for anyone , he sold his house in USA and came back , he has established two companies one is an estate company. And the other is an hospital. He must have been planing it for sometime and have been investing in his plans for year . This decision is not just a day or momentary decision .

If you are smart abroad, live low for 10 years.

INVEST INVEST INVEST.

You can be back in Nigeria living off your dividends and living a better life.

But the no so bright JAPA people
just pay bills, mortgage and taxes.
Thats like fetching water with a basket.

He has seen it all and he decided to pick what's best for him.
I am not anti japa but I will still say it without fear. If I have enough money that would cover all my "japa expenses" I would stay back in Nigeria and invest the money. I am familiar with Nigeria and it will be easy for me to do so many things here than a foreign land.

Last year I had the opportunity to travel abroad I told the person to invest the money in a business for me here, since he is also doing well in Nigeria without traveling abroad to hustle, he refused to give me any money or even invest it for me in a business. I told him I wasn't interested in traveling, that I can't be slaving away in a foreign land, living in fear or foreign laws that are anti black (no matter how nice they paint it) plus leaving all the people I cherish behind was something I can't imagine.
He kept his money and I thanked him for offering to help.

Nigerians are largely economic immigrants

Laird:

1) He came back to setup up a business that has high demand as Nigerians spend over 2 trillion naira yearly ( my estimate from data online ) on seeking Medical care abroad so an overseas based specialist coming here would be cheaper and even people from abroad can come here for cheaper services

2) Him and his wife and his children have American passports and can always return if things dont work out.

3) He didnt resign his job as a medical professor and Orthopaedic Surgeon in an A list US University, He took leave of absence

4) Orthopaedic Surgeons are in demand in the USA and are highly paid, so he wont have a problem getting his old job back or a new high paying Job back in the USA or Australia if he wants to go back

5) He has a property company already

6) His residence and medical practice would likely be in ikeja or Gbagada or Ilupeju or V.I or Ikoyi or Lekki or in Abuja where crime is not too high and security and social sercices and infrastructure are much better, and focus would be on high end Nigerian based clients and expatriates and people abroad from ghana, Uk, who want high quality medical orthopaedic specialist care in Nigeria and can afford to pay out of pocket

7) His US employer may even be an investor in his Nigerian Business through their endowment fund or charity or philantropic arm

He will be taxed much less here.
His background makes him a very easy sell.

He also said he is CEO of a multi-family real estate company (read: loans, loans, and more loans).
Adam Smith said it best below.

It is one thing to establish a business or hospital in Nigeria. It is quite another to sell your house and everything and relocate to Nigeria with your family.

Why are you people like this?
US is a country with the highest gun violence where killings go on a daily basis. The government largely under report most of these cases to the media. The guns in circulation in the US is way beyond their population. Does that stop people from travelling to the US?
Has everyone living in Nigeria being kidnapped already?
Yes we know things are not the way it should be right now but let's stop painting Nigeria bad at any given opportunity.

I'm a prominent pol. I'm the definition of "rich".
Look, he won't be the first. Some guy with a good job suddenly packed his bags and came back and locked himself inside for two weeks.
People get burnt out or there's a hidden something chasing them, but I can assure you of one thing - no one relocates back to Nigeria because he wants to help the country!

He will make more money here than there.

He will be taxed much less here.

His background makes him a very easy sell.

It is easier to make a billion dollars from Nigeria than from the US with his background.

He is not as foolish as some think.

Medicare is a very big business.

How much is Kelina Hospitals making by the way?

If you knew you would appreciate that this guy saw a niche and has grabbed it with both hands.

I know you know.

I'm simply concuring and making your point differently.

Now Cedarcrest Hospital has competition.

He is no fool.

Good idea but political portfolio is likely part of it and the the low tax rate of doing business in Nigeria by big firms and achieving more wealth and structure here is just perfect for his kind of person that now pension funds, real state funds still coming in for him.from there and which will make much difference here. He is very wise

You guys don't get the drift here

He is coming back to establish an Orthopedic center here which he will run himself, this sensational video is basically an advert

Na fools go think say he is taking a bad decision. when you are made and established, it is better working here and travelling there for holidays only

His opinion details the way his mind thinks.

Accomplished people have various motivation for making their decisions.

Less accomplished people often do out of desperation.

Poor people in Nigeria always believe that everyone there is suffering.

As bad as you may think Nigeria is, there are people who are so comfortable that "japa" is not in their dictionary. They only travel for vacation to cool off.

He has done so very well for himself. I hope the realities of Naija doesn’t catch up with him. He’s American so are every member of his family. If push come to shove, they are always welcome.
NB; even the thieving politicians will do anything to get their children/ward another (US, Uk, canda etc) citizenship. HUSTLE OOOO.
