Necessary because I know most people will say "what a nice man to leave heaven in US just to come and help Nigeria". Someone has to point out it's all self-interest

It's always Self interest.
Even our celebrity prisoners abroad( Ekweremadu, Hushpuppy, Invictus Obi etc) will jump at the offer to serve their prison sentence in Nigeria. E get why. Can you imagine Ekweremadu sent to Enugu prison. 'nuff said.

So you're insulting someone who decided to move back to his country away from the land of gun violence and hyper-inflation?

He worked at John Hopkins, definitely he won't have any financial concerns in Nigeria. And Nigeria is his homeland, those calling him mad may be more stupid.
Don't mind them. The eldorado they see in movies about overseas has left them permanently delusional!

I'm a prominent pol. I'm the definition of "rich".
Look, he won't be the first. Some guy with a good job suddenly packed his bags and came back and locked himself inside for two weeks.
People get burnt out or there's a hidden something chasing them, but I can assure you of one thing - no one relocates back to Nigeria because he wants to help the country!
Oga you are very wrong, I have another friend, a Neurosurgeon who relocated with his family to Nigeria. He's doing very well

This is not meant as an insult, but rather as a means of correction.

Now, kindly check your comments that I quoted, one by one, then look at your profile signature. And I guess you'll like to make amends swiftly.

After watching and seeing what Tinubu and his men are doing to Dangote, you pack your load and come back to Nigeria. The fellow is mad. His eyes will see. The money he has come back with by next year August will be worth half its present value. There's no two ways about it.

You must be a shallow thinker. He is not leaving US because of gun violence. He probably leaving because he has gathered enough money to establish business in Nigeria which he believes will work better for him than US.
You can easily make money in US than Nigeria in most cases if you know what you are doing.

I assume you understand English.
Where in my comment did I specify he was running from gun violence?
Go touch grass wink

People saying he is mad are the mad one's. I know a Nigerian doctor who relocated from Canada to establish a fertility hospital in Nigeria, and People come from that same Canada and the US where IVF is $40,000 to come and do it cheaper in his hospital in Nigeria.

Lets do a deal,

I am willing to go out of the country if you can secure the sponsorship for me from your friend, I will share my earnings with you for a period of 10 years.

And in the clause we will become business partners for all our established investments in Nigeria..

What do you say…
LOL you will indeed, story for the gods.

That's exactly what I'm saying:
It's because of where shoe pinches him.
For whatever reason, relocating back to Nigeria is the best option FOR HIM, not because he's out to do Nigeria a big favour!

I think it is a favour I an extent, because he's bringing his level of expertise to Nigeria which we can say is not has high as we have around.

You local Guys always think that people returning to their country must come back with loads of Money, delusion.
People only return with education, experience, and foreign Passport, the loads of easy Money is in Nigeria
you are the local one here. A doctor with john Hopkins hospital is surely not a poor person. Would be making over 300k usd a year.

Nigeria is where loads of money is yet we are the poverty capital of the world . Keep deceiving yourself

John Hopkins university is one of the best, if not the best university in the world for training medical doctors. Their teaching hospital must be paying higher too.

He cannot. Unless he is establishing it as a conduit for money laundering. His eye go soon clear when he sees the reality on ground that many many Nigerians cannot afford good health care. A friend from the US tried this, setting up a Dialysis practice. He shutdown operations within 3 years. This is for dialysis that should have considerable demand in Nigeria. People could not afford two to three times a week of dialysis. Musculoskeletal/Orthopedics is even worse
Did your friend depend solely on the earnings from his businesses in Nigeria? Or was his capital not so patient?

I was in Nigeria last week and what I experienced was crazy. He's entitled to make his own decisions but from the vantage position where I am, Nigeria is currently not working. I will NEVER advise anyone to japada completely at this point. I will recommend a phased re-relocation, if you must.

We can ask them right now:
Nigerians in US, do you feel safer traveling the road in US or in Nigeria?

Yes, it is safer traveling here in the US, 1000 times than Nigeria. My friend drove 11 hours to come meet me in my city, eventhough I told her I would rather take flight not because of any fear on the road but because of driving fatigue. No lady or even man can try that been alone in the car in naija.

He also has "multi-family real estate business" (meaning gigantic loans could be due collection). Guy is a hustler. Hustlers don't move back to Nigeria to do Nigeria a favour!

"Run back" may not be as easy as it sounds. He sold his house and everything and abandoned "multi-family real estate business". Whatever "chased" him from US may keep him out

He will regret it. They live like animals in Nigeria. After witnessing civilization and sensible people cohabit. You will find it difficult to cope in a jungle.

I pray Africa will one day rise up and witness good living

Then again you don't know what "chased" him out. I don't think he'd regret it at all.
(Example, just an example: better to be free in Nigeria than in jail in US, or creditors, or humiliations, or other pressures that'd disappear once you relocate!)
