Will this stop police from collecting 100naira and harassing innocent people even when their papers are complete because of money |

Why can't they get data from the FRSC or VIO instead of forcing people to pay for a system that they would soon discard. 1 Like |

Very very stupid statement from the authorities. What they would have done first is to make it mandatory for all police officers on duty to carry body cameras to forestall all the numerous atrocities committed by some of them. And before I forget they should pay for the body cameras from their pocket. Let the carrying of body cameras be a key legacy of the current IG After that we can start paying for the eCMR or whatever. |

N5,000 multiplied by 12 million cars in Nigeria runs into TRILLIONS of Naira, not billions, not millions. Is the police a revenue generating agency? And why should e-CMR be renewable? Why are they making regulatory laws for Nigerians? Are they lawmakers too?.. If any police man arrests me for e-CMR, I will be ready to sleep in their cells and ensure the matter get to court with the press following up on the case.. Infact I will beg them to charge me to court. If they don't, I will drag them court myself.. Let the courts tells us, if the police has revenue generating powers and lawmaking powers. This is TOTAL EXTORTION. Everybody just wants to have Nigerians paying them reccurent taxes and levies. It will be resisted . I am ready to make that sacrifice. 1 Like |

SmartPolician: that the problem of nigeria duplication of duties, originally FRSC function is under the duties and responsibilities of policing. FRSC should be scrapped or merged with the NPF |

Some claimed that they policemen collected as much as 40k from them for not having such document. Why should proof of ownership be renewed when ownership has not changed. It's like renewing speed limiting document and proof of ownership. Nothing but extortion. |

erniok:In my view, the NBA questioned and frowned at the monies beeing charged to obtain eCMR and not any development that can enhance safety and security of lives and properties of Nigerians. It could have made good sense if the document is issued freely as part of their contribution to alleviate the current hardship many Nigerians are facing and also to corroborate the slogan ' Police is your friend'. |

naptu2: The onus is on the police to diligently and discreetly collect data of registered vehicles from the Internal Revenue Boards of the respective States and the FRSC. Which one is deadline for all Nigerians to register their vehicles with police, with even a fee? This is beginning to get irritating. What is wrong with Nigerians? We already know how this is going to play out; opportunity for extortion galore! |
Re: Police Unveil E-CMR Enforcemen Patrol Van by erniok(m): 7:50am On Oct 01 |
mooa404: Asides the fees, NBA frowned at the fact that this is not backed by any legislative act. There are other agencies backed by the law to issue such documents. The NPF is just over stepping their legal boundaries. They could have asked the legislators to make a law to this effect for security reasons instead of playing "above the law". |
