A food processor is an electrical machine that cuts, slices and has the ability to pound food. With it you can pound your yam and don’t have to worry about women fighting to marry you.
Where did I say I didn't understand what the gadget was? undecided Wood pounded food tastes different from food prepared in a stainless steel bowl.

I haven't eaten home made pounded food in like 12 years. I hope this information brightens your night.

There's nothing special about this meal, just another way to eat yam and plantain both very starchy foods. There's nothing nutritious about this meal, it's just another way to get pot belly and diabetes. We are in the 21st century and most of us are educated, it’s high time we start applying some of that education rather than continuing with old traditions that are unhealthy. Eat salad, include grains, fruits, vegetables, protein and drink lots of water.

stupid and ignorant generalisation
Different people require different diets depending on lifestyle
Not everyone lives a sedentary lifestyle and not everyone is an old man

Some people actually play 90 minutes football once or twice a week and run a few miles weekly
They need all the calories they can get so your talk about 21st century and education is stupid
Education means the ability to think and reason ,to apply information to solve problems
There is nothing unhealthy about ANY tradition all things in moderation are wholesome and good

The diet of a pregnant woman is very different from that of a 6year old or 60 year old
Tinubu cannot have the same diet as Anthony Joshua

IJAW FOODS.

"ONUNU."

Called Kpangbudu by Arogbo-ijaws, Onunu by the Kalabari-Ijaws, known as Ipopoburu by Okrika-Ijaws, Ebubu by Nembe-Ijaws and fondly called Opopo by the Ibani-Ijaw people.

Onunu is a traditional delicacy of the Ijaws.

This Ijaw very rich meal is a mixture of over riped plantain and yam boiled and pounded together with a little salt and the best quality palm oil to blend.

Onunu is best served with a spicy fish pepper soup, yellow soup or native stew.

You want to learn how to prepare ONUNU?

Here are the ingredients and method of preparation.

INGREDIENTS
•Yam
•Ripe plantain
•Palm oil

Method:

Put the yam to boil, when it has cooked right about halfway, add the ripe plantains.

Before you pound ensure that both the yams and the plantains have cooked through till soft.

Start to pound the yam first because of its pulp and stretchy nature, once almost smooth, add the ripe plantain.

Once you have gotten both ingredients to a smooth consistency, add a little salt and palm oil.

The mash is still hot, which will take away the curdling taste of palm oil.

Finish off the pounding, until the palm oil properly mixes well, changing the colour to yellow.
Excellence! Your delicious Onunu is ready.

Just curious.what education are you talking about?what's your definition of education?speaking good and fluent English is not education.education as introduced to us by the west is not education. The best way to in to hold on to our tradition and culture.our forefathers didn't get diabetes from eating this food, they lived longer than most of the current generation.from the pictures I could see it's a very balanced diet.starch(yam) protein (fish) and vegetables(green leave) I believe this has sustained generation after generation and we want to demonize and rubbish it now that is our turn.china did not embrace western education but they are well to do in all ramifications including tradition, culture, medicine and technology. The kind of education the West introduced us to, is aimed at making Nigeria to self destruct because it lacks moral embedded in it.That is the reason we are what we are to day regardless of our level of so called education. How can one explain what is going on today in Nigeria with all our resources?

You think say you make sense with worthless statement? Plantains are complex carbs and very healthy for the body. Contains magnesium and other trace elements for your body. As well as Yams!

Nairaland and Nigeria at large is full of plenty dummies, no wonder Tinubu won. Do your research before speaking on public forums in other not to embarrass yourself!

God bless you. I was asked to eat heavy food like this, proteins with veg and fruits after a surgery, because I was becoming anorexic.
I was able to gain weight after a month after heavy follow up from a dietitian.

Nah salad go make me gain weight?

There is nothing bad in eating starchy foods weda fufu or pounded yam or this.
What matters most is dont make a habbit of eating them often. And eat them with plenty of vegetables and animal protein.

Same way you can substitute other soup with this swallow, I had to call the comment out because he made it seem this meal and combo is totally useless and unhealthy, you can’t make fun of other culture meals while yours is just as questionable.

Follow all the dietary theories all you want, you can't still add a single seconds to your lifespan.
Maybe you don't know eating alot of carbohydrates is not the cause of diabetes or potbelly.
Eating alot of fruits and vegetables are good, but carbohydrates remains the primary source of energy for the body. There's a reason they said balanced diet and I don't know any normal human will see a meal made from a combination of plantains, yam, fresh fish and say it's bad for your health.
Anyone nursing diabetes should not disturb us with the details.

We've been buying 1200 to 1250 in Uyo for about one month now. In fact about 2 or 3 weeks ago it had gone up to 1700/1800, but that one had to do with a strike by petroleum marketers in the state due to seizure of their tankers by the Nigerian Army. Last I bought about a week ago is 1250 but I recently saw a station indicate 1200 few days after.

Most stations (members of their union) were not selling. So the few that sold (I guess not their member) seized the opportunity to take advantage of people. And this their strike on seizure of their tankers has been rampant in Akwa Ibom for a few years now, at least since the last administration. I don't know what they do that their tankers keep being seized.

And since a new military cantonment was setup around my farm area about 2 years ago, I do notice them burn tankers filled with petroleum product from time to time. Probably bunkry products.

Colonised fool drowned in white worship and inferiority complex.

In those dishes I saw EVERY IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF A HEALTHY MEAL.

There is protein, iron, carbohydrates, (WHICH ARE BENEFICIAL IN A TROPICAL, HUMID CLIMATE WHERE ENERGY IS DISSIPATED QUICKLY AND NEEDS REPLENISHMENT UNLIKE IN TEMPERATE CLIMATES WHERE YOU CAN LIVE ON LIGHT DISHES AND ''SALAD'').

EVEN THE WHITES YOU WORSHIP LIKE A HE-GOAT EAT THEIR OWN VERSION OF FUFU DAILY, IE MASHED POTATOES, SWEET POTATOES, CHIPS, PASTA, RICE, RAVIOLI AND NOODLES).

Go on YouTube and TikTok and see how foreigners are falling over each other to eat NIGERIAN FOOD.

Even in Europe and the US, Nigerian food is the IN-THING. Nigerian restaurants are seeing a BOOMING TRADE in Europe and the US.

Our cuisine is EXTREMELY POPULAR NOWADAYS as people praise its spice and tasty NATURAL ingredients.

But will your racial inferiority complex allow you to appreciate your own heritage?
