franco273: Hello people, I have a little problem, back in 2008 when I was still naive and ignorant I was fooled by an agent who said he had connections @ the USA embassy, well I found the hard truth when I was refused. My problem now is that when I applied for visiting then, he filled the form as me being married , with a kid and having my own business, details like wife's name, dob, business name and kid's dob I can't recall since it was a lie, now I want to apply again as a student and thinking of putting separated as marriage details . But the form still asks for dob and previous work history which I can't recall, what can I do? Still seek further advice Regards |

This is a victory for those that put their trust in God. My visa was approved today by 12noon. No GRE and with a low Toefl score of 72. They collected my intl. Passport and I-20 form. Is the vo supposed to collect my form I-20 as well? I will post the full details when I reach home |

franco273: I think this issue is closed. No one has any good answer better than what you've been told here before and on other thread you opened about this issue. I know people from outside nairaland would have told you the same too. You can think of another countries without central information system, what about that? |

Emmanuelson: I hail all members of dis house...my story is kind of different, cos i need you guys advice on this...Am currently in my 2yr and 2nd semester here in a Nigeria uni studing a 5yrs course..my mother won a visa lottery few months ago with me as a beneficiary,am currently waiting 4 my i20 for fall 2012,which gives me two chances of ready made VISA..But the problem is my father insist/want me to finish my underg here in Nigeria before travelling anywhere...am confused because am f**kin tired of this country....please guys i need ur advice asap...as i dnt knw which side 2 fall to... Please don't be fucking tired of Nigeria however, there are many ways to colve your present challenge. If you are doing well in school, you got nothing to lose. The best way to get your dad to grant consent is to make him know that you buy his idea however, the challenges of Nigerian universities should be considered and also, why would he want to be spending money for you to visit the US yearly since you have to visit the US at least once in every 12months. Moreso, since you would be convincing the VO if you were to attend the student interview, you can make him see it from the perspective that the US educational system offers more than the Nigerian system would offer in terms of quality and exposure. I am convinced that since your program is a 5year program then it is either in the faculty of engineering or environment design and management as such, this is a more convincing way to make him see the opportunity in you studying abroad. Lastly, since he has no objection to you relocating abroad after studies, let him see it from the employment view of you being able to secure a job in the US right from the various career fares on campus than finishing and coming to start looking for a job and moreso, competing with those that finished here. Please be careful how you present this case because people who come from Nigeria sometimes too compete and are fortunate if they have taken their time to get more exposed into their field of study however, the difference in you finishing here is the leverage it gives you above finishing from Nigeria. I am so sure if you handle the situation well, he would be the one to push for your travelling. |

Square65: Thanks for coming to his aid. I would like to ask if it is possible he adds you on his profile as jis student representative. That way, it makes it easier for you to help him pursue the re-issuance of his I-20 and since he already has a SEVIS ID, I want to believe re-issuing his I-20 shouldn't take so long a time. Just my suggestion though. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by GboyegaD(m): 4:05pm On Jul 02, 2012 |
d_baba: That is much better. As at when I went last year, it was N300 to park but I want to believe it wouldn't be more than N500 now. That way, it saves you so much stress and if you can get to the embassy early enough, you can relax in your car while you wait for your appointment time. |

Emmanuelson: @anonymous..thanks for the reply...my mum already have a visa with her....and have booked appointment for me at the embassy already....so the immigrant visa is sure....please what i want to know is if its advisable to leave at second year in a nigeria uni for america.... The cost should be what you should be considering and I think it is just for a while because in the long run, you would be fine since you can apply for financial aid and besides, your planning to come school in the US, if it was based on the VISA lottery your mum won then you may reconsider the initial cost if you have to go to school immediately you arrive. However, whatever you eventually conclude on, I would suggest you bring your transcript along so that you can transfer some of your credits. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by GboyegaD(m): 4:25pm On Jul 02, 2012 |
franco273: Why compound your situation? Why not just put the necessary information as it applies to you? You may be lucky the VO doesn't look at that besides on page 74, there is a link that says VO should judge you based on your current intentions. More so, on the application site for visa interview, the question is if you have been interviewed in the last 12 months and 2008 till date is almost 4years as such, the VO may not trace your past applications. Just be truthful to yourself and hope for the best. |
