Cabinet Reshuffle: More Heads to Roll as President Tinubu Cracks Down on Underperformance

ABUJA - In a shocking move, President Bola Tinubu yesterday sacked five ministers and reassigned ten others in a sweeping cabinet reshuffle aimed at injecting new life into his administration. But sources close to the presidency reveal that this is only the beginning, with more ministers facing the axe.

According to a high-ranking government official who wishes to remain anonymous, President Tinubu is determined to root out underperformance and inefficiency within his cabinet. "The president knows that there are more ministers who are not pulling their weight, and he's willing to take drastic action," the source disclosed.

The five ministers shown the door are:

- Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs
- Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism
- Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education
- Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development
- Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development

Seven new ministers have been appointed and are awaiting Senate confirmation. The Ministry of Niger Delta Development has been renamed to the Ministry of Regional Development, and the Ministry of Sports Development has been dissolved, with its functions transferred to the National Sports Commission.

"This is a bold move by the president to reinvigorate his administration and show Nigerians that he's committed to results," said political analyst, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeoye. "The message is clear: perform or face the consequences."

The cabinet reshuffle comes after months of growing calls from Nigerians for a shake-up. Critics had accused President Tinubu's administration of being slow to deliver on key campaign promises.

Reactions from Nigerians

Nigerians took to social media to express mixed reactions, with many demanding more action:

- "This is just the beginning. More heads need to roll!" (@NaijaPatriot)
- "Finally, some accountability! But what about the others?" (@ConcernedCitizen)
- "This is a good start, but we need to see tangible results." (@NigeriaFirst)
- "More ministers need to go! We can't afford complacency." (@ChangeNigeria)

The reactions suggest that Nigerians expect more drastic measures to address the country's challenges. Many are calling for further action to address:

- Insecurity
- Economic stagnation
- Corruption
- Infrastructure decay

"It's clear that Nigerians are hungry for change and expect the president to take bold action," said Dr. Adeoye. "The president must continue to demonstrate his commitment to results and accountability."

Nigerian Labor Congress Reacts

The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) released a statement welcoming the cabinet reshuffle but urging President Tinubu to go further. "We commend the president's bold move, but we demand more action to address the country's economic and social challenges."

As President Tinubu's administration continues to evolve, Nigerians will be watching closely to see if these changes yield tangible results. With elections looming, the stakes are high.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

Good one.

By the way, for those who don’t know yet, Ojukwu's wife is now officially a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nairalanders, say hi to the tear rubber minister.

God bless Soludo
God bless APAPGA

Bianca Ojukwu appointment was awesome bearing in mind she has past experiences as an ambassador of Spain.
Hopefully, she betters our foreign affairs.

Buhari lowered the bar of leadership so low that people didn’t expect anything meaningful from government.

With T-Pain that bar is destroyed, there’s nothing like good governance anymore. Any politician found wanting in the future will remind Nigerians that they endured worse under T-Pain

Reshuffling or sacking the ministers is just for Tinubu to save face, and as usual, play the gullible. He's the sole cause of the hardships the country is facing. Or was it any of the ministers that made the 'subsidy is gone' statement, which bore the consequences of all what the country's economy is facing?

the portfolio of these ministers do not really contribute so much in bringing about a drastic change in the economy.

He should remove ministers that have a direct impact in boosting the economy. Let him go to finance, defence, petroleum, agriculture and other key positions not these light ministers/ministry

The performance of the sacked ministers must have been very poor for them to have been sacked within a year.

This is exactly the kind of leadership that Nigeria needs at this time. We need a decisive leader who will take bold and courageous decisions to move Nigeria forward.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!

Admittedly, Tinubu is as incompetent as Buhari, but I must hail him for reshuffling his cabinet. When the dullard was president, cabinet reshuffle was a taboo.
